Edward Monkman

I am a skilled Political Science graduate based in London with a strong writing ability and experience in critically analysing complex information. After years of experience, I am adept at using creative tools such as Final Draft and Final Cut Pro to enhance productivity and deliver high-quality, creative projects. My experience demonstrates strong capabilities in complaint handling and resolution, critical observation as well as quantitative and qualitative data analysis using SPSS and Microsoft Excel. I have the desire and ability to utilise these skills in dynamic environments in which I can help drive organisational success and achieve strategic objectives.

• In my spare time, I am involved in many creative projects. I have been the lead singer and songwriter in a number of bands, playing guitar too. I have played shows at a number of venues across the UK.
• At university I was a member of a number of societies, including the politics and socialist societies.

Finalist for Best Comedy Screenplay at the Directors Cut International Film Festival in Budapest - 2024/2025.

Awarded an academic scholarship on entry to Bootham School.

• I have recently spent two months travelling alone in Japan. I maintained a personal blog of my experience as well as extensive writing on the history and culture that I engaged with.

• In the run up to the 2019 UK General Election I helped my local MP, Racheal Maskell, canvas in York. The work required approaching members of the public and explaining why Rachel was the right candidate to vote for. I was working within a team under the direct supervision of Rachel. She won her seat in parliament in the election.

• In 2015 I worked as a runner on a film production of Macbeth in North Yorkshire. While still in my teens, I gained valuable experience as a runner on a major film production of Macbeth. I was responsible for keeping lines of communication between cast and crew tight and respectful which allowed me to develop strong interpersonal skills from a young age. I was also able to pick up valuable knowledge of how a large production works, seeing first hand the technical process of a film shoot.

• In 2017 I gained work experience at my local primary school, teaching classes one on one to pupils. The experience required managing small groups and taking responsibility for their safety and education.
