I am a Consultant Medical Ophthalmologist with dual expertise in Medical Ophthalmology and Internal Medicine. I hold a substantive NHS Consultant position at University Hospitals Birmingham, a leading teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Birmingham. With over 10 years of experience in General Internal Medicine, Diabetes, and Cardiology, I have developed a comprehensive and multidisciplinary medical background. My residency training in Medical Ophthalmology took place across major district and tertiary care hospitals within the West Midlands deanery, followed by a post-CCT fellowship at Oxford University Hospitals.
I specialize in the diagnosis and management of eye disorders linked to systemic diseases, as well as inflammatory eye pathologies such as episcleritis, scleritis, uveitis, and ocular surface disorders. My expertise also extends to medical retina conditions, including diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusion, and neuro-ophthalmic disorders.
Driven by a passion for delivering world-class medical care, I thrive in challenging environments and value collaboration with dedicated teams to enhance global health outcomes. In addition to my clinical responsibilities, I serve as an educational and clinical supervisor for junior doctors at University Hospitals Birmingham and as an examiner for the MRCPI General Medicine clinical exams.
I am currently working as a Consultant Medical Ophthalmologist and Clinical Lead for Uveitis at Heartlands, Good Hope, and Solihull Hospitals, part of University Hospitals Birmingham. These hospitals serve as a renowned tertiary care referral center in the West Midlands region of the United Kingdom. My areas of interest include retinal vascular disorders, complex uveitis patients requiring systemic immunosuppression, and inflammatory neuro-ophthalmologic diseases. Additionally, I manage weekly retinal laser and intravitreal injection clinics.
I am also responsible for the teaching and training of medical students and ophthalmology trainee doctors, ensuring the development of future professionals in the field.
12 months compulsory rotatory internship in various specialties including Medicine, Surgery, Orthopedics, ENT, Ophthalmology, Obstetrics and gynaecology and dermatology.
