I am a qualified General Practitioner who completed training in NHS Borders and have lived and worked in this community for most of my career. I bring several years of experience in emergency medicine, orthopaedic surgery and acute medicine within a hospital environment but I have developed a strong interest in remote and rural practice and hold the Pre Hospital Emergency Care (BASICS) qualification. My work in this environment has involved managing a varied and complex clinical workload, including periods as the sole GP responsible for clinics, A&E and out-of-hours services. I have gained further training in sexual and women’s health during my year as a Borders GP Fellow. I also have skills in minor surgery from my work in A&E and have attended RCGP minor surgery along with joint injection courses during GP training. Currently, I provide palliative care leadership in my practice, and chair our monthly multidisciplinary palliative care meetings. I am now looking to bring this breadth of experience to a practice that values commitment, continuity and long term contribution to its community. I maintain my BLS and anaphylaxis certifications annually and plan to continue renewing BASICS every three years.
Salaried GP working 8 sessions per week. In this practice, I am currently Palliative Care lead.
GP rural fellowship 6 sessions per week, with out of hours component. In this job, I developed a special interest in sexual health and family planning.
Locum GP in Rural practices and rural out-of-hours/A&E GP. I gained BASICS qualification in January 2024, and with this, I have been able to practice in Benbecula and the Uists, Arran, Colonsay, Dunoon, Wick and various GP practices throughout the Scottish Borders. In the more remote places that I have practiced, I have been the sole GP responsible for the GP surgery, A&E and out of hours service. My work in the Scottish Borders has given me wide experience of the population of this area.
