I took over a totally neglected practice without IT systems, Chronic Disease Registers nor a Practice Manager and regular. I built it up as a young and naive GP and developed it into a flourishing practice which the supportive patient participation group and I named after the "Hartshead Pike" the "Pike Practice". This included family planning, minor surgery, care home reviews, child health surveillance, and a drugs and abuse clinic including violent patient management. I am extremely proud of this achievement but realized that single handed GP work in Tameside was associated with burnout and isolation. I therefore decided to become a salaried GP.
I served this small practice whose GP suddenly died and build it up with the help of the Small Practice Association and Bury &Rochdale PCT. The previous GP had not used the EMIS system and it required updating. The PPG partitioned to Downing Street to keep me as their GP but the practice dispersed as it was considered not viable. I am extremely proud of my achievements and the trust that all the patients set in me. It was eventually divided by several existing local practices to the dismay of the loyal patients.
Apart from general practice duties I was the designated GP for the Kosovo Refugee camp in Rotherham.

I initially volunteered then earned money as a carer in multiple hospital and care and nursing home settings. This has been invaluable in my daily work with the aging patient. Humility and care and compassion I learned here.
I sought term holiday employment in a centralised pathology department where I learnt to work in administration, organising and filing of pathology results and samples, large and small and attended regular post mortem examination in the district. I was hoping to gain valuable experience whilst waiting for a place at Medical School which took no less than 5 year of waiting.
I help build a 4 story parish hall. This was a community act with unskilled, skilled labourers and academics alike.
Student Tutoring Education
studying English, Biology and RC Theology for teaching and priesthood
I assisted the teaching of British Students in the German Language at 3 Secondary Comprehensive Schools in Ashton-Under-Lyne, Tameside, Lancashire. I also assisted in the 6th Form of the RC High School, St Damian's in Denton, Lancashire.
As part of this I carried on with my studies for Theology and English Literature at Manchester University. I did not carry on as I eventually got a long waited for placement
to study Medicine at Essen University in Germany whilst I did all the practical electives in England.
I took part in a 6 day highly intensive lifeguard course at the cold-water outdoor swimming pool in Matlock-Bath which the Assessor on the examination day, 9th July 2023, considered to be a considerable challenge due to the victorian pool configuration and the cold water.
I can only say that the resuscitation training in General Practice can not reach the high quality in this training. It will greatly benefit from this course in my daily practice, but hopefully it is not needed to say the least.
