
Currently a FP2 doctor working in the cardiology department in Glangwilli Hospital. Since medical school, I’ve been determined to pursue a career in interventional cardiology. I am seeking a clinical fellowship job where I can gain further experience in cardiology/ general medicine while preparing my application for IMT.

Responsibilities to include managing ward patients and independent cover of ENT and urology new admissions and ward patients out of hours
- Acquired expertise in managing ACS and severe heart failure
- Monitoring patients in cardiac care units (CCUs), including assessing vital signs and interpreting cardiac monitoring
- Participated in several diagnostic and therapeutic interventions such as ETT, DC cardioversion
- Organized and led the weekly departmental cardiology teaching program in which I regularly took part in
- Conducting an audit project to monitor the time from GP referral with suspected heart failure to ECHO and clinic appointment
- Conducting consultations with patients presenting with a wide range of medical conditions, including acute and chronic illnesses, formulating their management plan and referring to relevant specialties or other healthcare professionals when necessary
- Providing patient education on lifestyle modifications, medication adherence, and disease management strategies.
- Conducting home visits for patients who are unable to attend the practice due to mobility issues or serious illness
- Regularly attending and actively participating in multidisciplinary team meetings to deliver comprehensive and holistic care
- Participating in and often leading the ward rounds and case discussions, presenting patient cases, and contributing to clinical decision-making.
- Experience in medical clerking on my on-call shifts, formulating and implementing treatment plans under the supervision of seniors
- Regularly performing core procedures and experience in practical skills such as lumbar puncture
- Teaching and supporting medical students on their specialty attachment
- Covered 3 inpatient wards; managed psychiatric and medical emergencies and regularly participated in Memory Clinic
- Acquired expertise in communicating with patients with cognitive impairment and prescribing psychotropic medication, performing MSEs
- Joining the renal team one day a week throughout my foundation 1 year to take part in ward duties and observe practical procedures such as temporal line insertion, kidney biopsies
- More in-depth knowledge of complex renal conditions and their management through first-hand experience in a tertiary unit
- Experience in USS guided cannulation
