I have extensive experience as a midwifery lecturer and also as a researcher. In my current role as a research assistant, I am involved in a number of projects related to end-of -life care and palliative care.

Since commencing the post, I have gained extensive experience in writing research protocols for four different projects.

I have also undertaken ethics training and gained experience in the process of obtaining ethical approval for the various projects.

I have also submitted abstracts and presented at conferences and symposiums both in Cologne and Rotterdam.

I have been involved in a European study- iLIVE, Live Well, Die well and currently I am working collaboratively across four countries - Spain, Norway, The Netherlands and Slovenia in generating quantitative and qualitative publications examining the impact of volunteer support for dying people and their family.

I am also evaluating two projects - Assessing Research Competencies in Health Care Professionals and Evaluating the Swan Educational Masters Programme in Advanced Communication Skills in Palliative Care.

I am also writing a systematic review on Serious Illness Conversations in conjunction with Oncology Consultants.

Since commencing this post, I feel I have gained extensive skills and confidence in conducting research and writing for publication which would enhance my role as a midwifery lecturer.
