In my role as a receptionist I have the responsibility of creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for customers. I enrol new members on to the computer system, promoting memberships and ensuring the membership is appropriate and process payments by either card or cash. I assist with enquiries in person and on the telephone regarding bookings for soft play, swimming sessions, gym sessions and fitness classes on the Gladstone booking system. I book appointments into the diary for gym staff for inductions and gym programs ensuring timings are accurate. I am also responsible for ensuring the cash float is accurate at the start and following cash up procedures at the end of my shift. I ensure the reception area is clean and tidy at all times.
In my role as a Support For Learning Assistant I have supported pupils' individual needs to enable them to access the curriculum. This involves supporting their social and emotional needs and also working alongside the classroom teacher and other staff members to provide a consistent approach. I have also had the responsibility of delivering literacy programmes and I have worked collaboratively with staff and used my own initiative and knowledge to deliver these through active, multi sensory tasks to ensure individuals are engaged and enthusiastic towards their learning.
I also was placed within the enhanced support room supporting 1:1 with pupils with complex needs. I recognise that individuals have specific triggers and through building positive relationships I am able to identify triggers and use de-escalation strategies to support pupils' individual needs.
I was a registered childminder for 19 years and was inspected regularly by the Care Inspectorate and achieved grade 5s for all areas (grade 6 being the highest). To achieve this I had to provide evidence of how I worked with and supported children through learning opportunities I provided. I organised activities for the day for different age children according to their learning and development stages.
I completed relevant training i.e first aid, child protection, meeting the needs of children, child led planning, child development.
I have cared for children age 3 months - 12 years and I was responsible for organising outings and activities to meet their individual needs.
I also had to keep up to date with children’s information records, development records, risk assessments and policies and procedures ensuring I followed GDPR regulations.
I was very approachable by all families I was in contact with and built up professional relationships with them.
I started with Greggs Bakers in 1992 as a counter assistant serving members of the public and keeping shop area clean and tidy. I was later promoted to assistant manager. I was given the responsibility to train new members of staff and manage the shop in the managers absence. I was then promoted and transferred to be the manager of a new store that was opening. I had the responsibility of stock ordering and ensuring cash tills balanced at the end of each day. My other responsibilities were ensuring food safety procedures were followed, staff rotas were made up correctly depending on projected busy periods.
