  • As a coordinator for Orsted, my role involves a number of day to day tasks
  • Firstly, I communicate with the vessels on site by VHF or telephone, making sure all transfers onto the assets are recorded in an ELOG, communicating with the vessels making sure only vessels that have a VCC are allowed to work onsite
  • Guard vessels are important in my role, they are my eyes and ears on site, used as a tool to make sure no vessel unauthorized enters the site
  • Secondly, check all the crew and technicians have the right certificates and tickets to perform their role, communicating with people individually if any problems arise
  • In addition, working together with third party contractors to deliver the best performance when constructing the wind farm project


  • Emergency response nn case of an emergency anywhere in the world, we are the point of contact for Orsted personnel or any contractors working on our sites
  • I gather the appropriate team (differs depending on the region of the world) and present them with the scenario reported, we then coordinate the meetings and decide whether to escalate the incident from Local to National to Global
  • Coordination and planning of all daily simultaneous operations and managing all communications with vessels the project vessels
  • Coordinate with Marine onshore coordinator for vessel port call logistics, crew change, material/cargo transfer
  • Finally,Provide reporting of vessel workability/use on site on a weekly/monthly basis
  • Report KPI (transfers, fuel consumption, safety records) lesson learned in operations and to optimize vessel schedule, and marine operations

  • I was an information officer/Assistant dock master at the Port of Grimsby
  • I worked shifts on a 4 off 4 on basis and my day to day tasks were organizing pilotage throughout the river Humber, taking into consideration constant weather change and flexibility of the amount of vessels sailing or arriving
  • Making sure the right pilots are on the right ships, I have to take into consideration constant change of tides and requests of clients while making sure everything is done along with the safe systems of work and Maritime law
  • Along my job, I am also a qualified berthing master at the port of Immingham, supervising a team of 7 gate men, berthing ships along quays, accurately communicating with the ship's crew in order not to cause damage to the ship or the dock, working along with my team to make sure the huge ships are in the right position
  • The position also requires taking care of the lock machinery, the huge lock gates and sluice system always require having the correct amount of oil and hydraulic fluid level in order to work properly, I make sure of that by taking readings and performing NDT on the machinery
  • Reporting back to engineers and management.
