Work History

Europe Service Line Director

Inhabit
05.2024 - Current
  • Key projects include the Misk Heritage Museum (Zaha Hadid Architects), where we held a multi-disciplinary appointment covering façades, structure, and MEP, as well as three Hub Buildings at Qiddiya, featuring innovations such as rammed earth façade systems and a kinetic façade design.
  • In the UK, our principal clients included Berkeley Group, Mace, and Multiplex. By refocusing the business around façades and sustainability, we achieved stronger alignment with Egis’ strategic objectives and enhanced our ability to serve both external clients and internal group projects.
  • While approximately 50% of our work was UK-based, we successfully expanded and delivered projects across Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Australia, and Latvia.
  • Recruited to lead the restructuring of the newly acquired Inhabit business into the Egis Group of companies. This involved integrating a market-leading façades consultancy and supporting disciplines including MEP, Structural Engineering, Sustainability, and Acoustics.

Technical Leader

Laing O’Rourke
06.2015 - 04.2024
  • I joined LOR’s Engineering Excellence team to drive the analysis of projects for both work won and work winning opportunities. This role expanded to included R&D and offsite robotic manufacturing development for large scale production. Regrettably investment was halted in world-leading techniques due to the Covid lockdown.
  • As a senior technical leadership team member I have a cross-project technical troubleshooting and resolution role. This commonly involves façade performance, and envelope testing for fire and acoustic compliance.
  • The LMR roll out has involved my application of the technical guidance at S5, Hinckley HBX and Olympia G-Gate. The LMR’s continue to develop and push our direction of the consultant design teams, as well as our procurement knowledge. As a result my awareness of testing and accreditation standards, first developed to secure BBA accreditation for the AMF cladding, has increased significantly. The LOR technical team are frequently ahead of the consultants in the application and scrutiny of supposed accredited products.

Head of Design - AMF Offsite manufacturing

Laing O’Rourke
06.2015 - 04.2024
  • The roles included the outward facing engagement with prospective clients and concept designers to shape project to most effectively fit the AMF capability. The bold targets for production of up to 10,000 homes a year proved unattainable as an investment in manufacturing when Covid hit. Whist the demand is clearly ever present.
  • My role also included progressing IP and accreditation testing for industry and market assurance and endorsement. This is an evolving engineering product, not a single project, and therefore engaging with internal and external stakeholders to adapt solutions is very much part of the future projects workload and product evolution role, requiring engagement and control of several project teams simultaneously.
  • Whist the AMF full scale programme has been halted, we continue to apply and develop some elements into project and use the lessons learnt to the benefit of several schemes.
