Qualifying from Assiut University in Egypt in 2011, I completed my internship over the course of a year, and immediately began my formal training in Clinical Oncology. My residency comprised of a 4-yr training period, extensively covering provision of both RT treatments and SACTs, training her extensively in terms of all standard LINAC-based radiotherapies (IGRT/IMRT, VMAT, 3D CRT), and systemic treatments (chemotherapy, immunotherapy/targeted therapies). Following this post, I took up a position as an Assistant Lecturer at Assiut University, a role split 80/20 between clinical and academic work. I worked 4 days per week as a clinical oncologist, spending 1 day per week teaching juniors and postgraduate residents, both formally and informally. I then took a 2yr post in the UK NHS, moving to Sheffield under the MTI scheme sponsored by the Royal College of Radiation Oncology, training in Breast, Lung, Melanoma, and Urological tumours for 2 years, and using RT techniques such as SABR, IMRT, VMAT, alongside many immunotherapies and targeted therapies. I passed my FRCR Part 1 exam, and then took up a 12mo locum consultant post at Swansea Bay University focused on Breast cancers, where I then took up my current position as a Specialist Doctor in Clinical Oncology, covering Breast.
As a lecturer of Clinical Oncology at the Faculty of Medicine, I am an ambitious educator eager to contribute academic background to winning university faculty with astrong drive to support student comprehension and deliver engaging lectures.

Throughout my career, I have been heavily involved in educating and mentoring students at various levels in the field of clinical oncology. My journey in academia began as a demonstrator at Assiut University, where I played a pivotal role in imparting fundamental concepts and practical skills to junior medical students. As a demonstrator, I facilitated interactive sessions, conducted demonstrations, and provided guidance to ensure the comprehensive understanding of oncological principles among students.
Building upon this foundational experience, I progressed to the role of an assistant lecturer, where I assumed increased responsibilities in curriculum development, course coordination, and student assessment. In this capacity, I not only continued to mentor undergraduate students but also had the opportunity to engage with postgraduate trainees, guiding them through the complexities of clinical oncology practice. I facilitated seminars, led small group discussions, and supervised research projects, fostering a stimulating learning environment conducive to academic growth and professional development.
Elevating my academic journey further, I transitioned to the position of lecturer, where I assumed leadership roles in teaching and curriculum planning within the clinical oncology department at Assiut University. As a lecturer, I designed and delivered comprehensive lectures, seminars, and workshops tailored to meet the educational needs of a diverse cohort of learners, including junior doctors, residents, and fellows. I emphasized evidence-based practice, critical thinking, and interdisciplinary collaboration, equipping students with the requisite skills and knowledge to excel in the field of oncology.
In tandem with my academic endeavors, I have remained actively engaged in clinical practice as a clinical oncologist at Swansea Bay University Health Board (SBUH). Despite my clinical commitments, I have consistently prioritized education and training, actively participating in local teaching activities within the healthcare institution. Whether through bedside teaching, case discussions, or multidisciplinary team meetings, I have sought to instill a culture of continuous learning and professional development among my peers and colleagues.
Furthermore, I have had the privilege of serving as a trainer in the Cardiff FRCR (Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists) course, where I have contributed to the education and preparation of aspiring oncologists pursuing specialization in radiation oncology. In this capacity, I have facilitated interactive sessions, provided mentorship, and offered insights gleaned from my clinical experiences, thereby enriching the educational experience of trainees and nurturing the next generation of oncology professionals.
In summary, my teaching journey has been marked by a steadfast commitment to excellence, innovation, and student-centered learning. From my formative years as a demonstrator to my current roles as a clinical oncologist and educator, I have endeavored to inspire, empower, and shape the future of oncology through education, mentorship, and scholarly engagement.
