I am a highly motivated individual, I will always try to do the best I can in whatever task I am set. I have a proven track record of good leadership and communication skills. I have many years of volunteering experience helping treat injured people which is my passion and one of the reasons why I chose to study sports therapy. I am seeking an opportunity to develop my skills in a different environment. I am keen to learn as much as I can and will adapt to different environments with ease.
In this voluntary role, I am the goalkeeping coach and Pitch side first aider. As the teams first aider I provide medical care to any player that becomes sick or injured. Through this I have gained a pitch side first aid qualification accredited by the SFA, I have also furthered my training by getting First Responder Emergency Care (FREC) 3, this course provides me with more advanced trauma skills. Doing this role, I have treated everything from cuts and scrapes to life threatening events. This has boosted my communication skills with players to accurately diagnose injuries and discuss the treatment plan to confirm we are both aligned.
In this voluntary role, I provide medical cover to events all over Scotland, from small gala days to major events such as TRNSMT, The Great Scottish Run and a plethora of football stadiums including Rangers, Celtic, Hampden, St Mirren and many others. I also volunteer at varied sports events from all different disciplines giving me a wide range of experience in all different sports and sports injuries. My roles and responsibilities include performing equipment checks to ensure that everything is in working order and are safe to use, stocking kitbags and ordering more stock when required, providing medical support to those who get sick or injured and organising onward care plans for those who require it.
I have also qualified as a Communications Controller which means I am based in the control room and it is my responsibility to dispatch the most appropriate resource to every patient whilst keeping a log of all incidents and communications that occur. This role requires first rate decision making and communication skills to allow for optimal inter agency working so that the patient receives the best care they can, and at the same time, ensuring that our volunteers stay protected while they are working.
My role is to maintain the safety and security of attendees at events all across Scotland. These events include football, concerts, festivals, horse racing, boxing tournaments and many others. My managers in this role realised my potential from my previous experience in dealing with the public and gave me extra responsibilities early on in my career. This included making me a supervisor on a shift after just a few months in the job and also pulling on my previous experience to station me in their control room at events so I could learn their way of working. I am a practical learner and so learn by doing and this has stood me in good stead for quick progression.
