For this new position I took on running a Youth and Community Centre, a mixture of staff known to me and new. the challenges with community, local councillors and young people wo did not want to engage

• Developed and championed accessible, practical solutions for young peoples recurring problems such as negative press, school systems, not meeting all their individual needs by giving the tools and the young people a voice to express their feelings
• Partnered with external support networks to deliver holistic client care such working with the Paediatric Matron at Derriford hospital to develop and forum for young people to challenge and support developments
• Work with local housing officer and a councillor to get the community to build a network all members of the community to use. this has been running since 2018 and going strong.
• Safeguarded young people within line to national guidelines is mandatory. this yet another tool we can use for young people by explaining why and where safeguarding keeps them safe personally, Social media.
• Through building positive, productive partnership working with the community, other youth providers, the council, police and business we can enhance opportunities for young people to seek future employment through knowledge and face to face.
• work on city wide events building the potential for young people to explore out of their comfort zones, getting the communities of Plymouth to see the good that young people do.
• Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Helping young people to develop critical life skills through meeting new young people and adults through educational play, visits to places of work places they would not of explored on their own or with parents. the older group of our SEND group taking on a buddy role with younger or new members. this work has come through a funding bid from the Department of Education (DFE) for a year and possibly 3 years in total. it is now into its second year with confirmation of the third year just before leaving my post.

2009.

• I was then promoted to a Professional Youth Worker with additional responsibilities such as managing new areas and a new team. this was there first time for me leading meetings and supervisions and building staff skills and to take new roles themselves along with responsibilities in time.
• I had a fixed budget to over see making sure the team followed processes . I found funding opportunities for young people to apply so they could go on residentials and and to do projects around the area. I worked with the team to support the young people doing the funding bid, planning for the trip etc.
• During this time I supported staff and young people to deliver sessions looking at participation. represented the team and the council at events, meetings and working with professional bodies to deliver a more holistic approach to youth work.

2005-2009

• Worked as apart time youth support worker on short contracts; delivering group sessions through encouraging participation of young people and staff, doing one to ones.
• After consultation with young people to set up programme sessions along side producing risk assessments, schedules, activities and so on. the activities were educational , full of fun and a builder of self steam and adding more knowledge for young people to use socially, in work and education.
• worked in schools during lunch times doing one to ones with young people who had things to deal with, supporting them to find skills to manage theses issues themselves or where they need to go to get such support.
