  • Maiden Bradley WRC is a WW owed WRC.
  • It has a MON4 driver under the Water Industry National Environment Programme (WINEP).
  • The driver requires the installation of an adequate MCERTS (Environment Agency's Monitoring Certification Scheme) flow measurement at the inlet of the WRC to comply with the Environment Agency's requirement of self-monitoring flow for AMP8 (2020-2025).
  • Contract type: NEC3 Framework - Option C
  • Detailed Design Fee: £105,000
  • Lead Design Engineer for this scheme

Client

Wessex Water
02.2024 - 06.2024
  • Wessex Water commissioned Sweco UK to analyse dry day spills at water recycling centers (WRC).
  • The objective was to understand incoming flows during dry days, where flows sometimes exceed the legally consented maximum flow, known as Flow Passed Forward (FPF).
  • These excess flows lead to dry-day spills, which can have environmental impacts.
  • To address the challenge, Sweco utilised advanced data analysis techniques, employing raw PRISM data from multiple instruments at the WRC.
  • This data was transferred into a calculation spreadsheet that assessed infiltration (Imax) on dry days, helping to determine the total consented flow.
  • Results were then analysed and input into report format, advising Wessex Water on what their next steps should be.
  • Contract type: NEC3 Framework – Option E
