Derin Su Selimoglu

As the social media manager of the Turkish Society in my university, I organized cultural events that engaged students and highlighted Turkish traditions, aligning closely with themes of arts and culture. My role involved content creation and communications strategy, where I developed and edited written and visual content for the Instagram platform of the society. I collaborated with other society members to pitch digital content ideas and ensured consistency in our messaging across various events. This position enhanced my understanding of social media performance analytics and audience engagement, while reinforcing my ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

I had worked in the Launch Event of Alliance Group Investments that took place in Istanbul, Turkey as The Head of Public Relations. Alliance Group Investments is a London based company that specializes in establishing partnerships that develop profitable businesses in the construction, real estate, retail and private investment sectors. As the Head of Public Relations i was responsible for appointments related to the launch, my duties included meeting with clients, connecting them with the relevant representatives they needed to speak with and writing down all the information clients provided us on an excel form. This role strengthened my skills in collaboration, communications, and working across teams in a multidisciplinary environment, all of which are essential in a dynamic communications department.

I had the opportunity to be an intern at PowerFm, a nationally broadcasted radio and television station also known to be one of the most listened radio stations in Turkey. Affiliated with Power Media Group, owned by VakkoGroup. During my internship, I had the chance to be a guest on "Geveze Show" a radio talkshow on PowerFm that happens every weekday between 17:00-20:00 hosted by Jozi Zalma. Throughout my intership, i worked as a radio host which has taught me how to speak in a fluent and effective way that engages listeners. I had the invaluable opportunity to immerse myself in the dynamic world of radio broadcasting and further developed my understanding of media and press, audience engagement, and how cultural trends shape content in the communications industry.

During my internship at Harper's Bazaar and Cosmopolitan Magazine, I assisted with editorial tasks, research, and content creation for upcoming issues. I collaborated with the editorial team to draft articles, conduct interviews, and support social media efforts alongside the communications department with relevant projects. This experience gave me insight into how media and press content is developed and refined, and allowed me to contribute to storytelling that reflected current events and cultural trends.
