I left the police as both my husband and I were police officers and shift work was not compatible with raising a family. At that time in the police there was no consideration for reduced hours or alternative pathways to offer a compatible work life balance with small children and as I had no other close support I had to make the choice to put my family first.

Key responsibilities were to carry out the duties of a Police constable which included:

  • Exercised discretion and judgment when applying laws, resulting in fair outcomes.
  • Upheld high ethical standards when dealing with sensitive information.
  • Prepared detailed case reports for use in court proceedings.
  • Adhered strictly to legal regulations whilst conducting duties, ensuring professionalism.
  • Provided security at large-scale events, minimising potential threats effectively.
  • Utilised negotiation skills to defuse volatile situations peacefully.
  • Maintained public order by patrolling designated areas.
  • Intervened promptly during disturbances at public gatherings, restored peace swiftly.
  • Conducted thorough investigations into reported crimes, resulting in successful resolution.
  • Collaborated closely with colleagues in multi-agency task forces to resolve cases.
  • Ensured victim care and support throughout investigation processes, fostered goodwill.
  • Responded quickly to emergency situations, leading calm and effective negotiations with suspects to diffuse highly charged situations.
  • Maintained strict confidentiality through careful and correct storage of case documents, in line with internal policies.
  • Gathered evidence carefully at crime scenes, enforcing forensic procedure adherence for accuracy.
  • Kept sensitive intelligence safe and secure from unauthorised access.
  • Protected life and property by enforcing UK laws and regulations.
  • Aided investigations through strategic interviewing and statement taking of victims, suspects, witnesses and informants.
  • Arrested and transported suspects to police stations or holding cells.
  • Used proven interview techniques to garner reliable evidence and statements from victims, witnesses and suspects.
  • Assessed and verified information given in victim and witness statements to improve investigation workflow.
  • Provided visible presence in inner-city areas, deterring crime through on-foot and mobile patrol duties.
  • Offered empathy and support to victims whilst professionally handling suspects in line with Police and Criminal Evidence Act.
  • Prepared crime reports and case files, delivering documentation to Public Prosecution Service (PPS).
  • Arrested and interviewed suspected criminals, clearly outlining legal rights.
  • Worked crime scenes, preserving and securing forensic evidence to strengthen investigation accuracy and case viability.
