I took a career break to take up my current role of a Community Engagement Officer for Prevent. I still offer sessional shift for the NSPCC.
I decided to apply for a different role due to changes in the NSPCC which meant we would have to work night shifts which I did not feel was compatible with a healthy work/life balance.

I left the police as both my husband and I were police officers and shift work was not compatible with raising a family. At that time in the police there was no consideration for reduced hours or alternative pathways to offer a compatible work life balance with small children and as I had no other close support I had to make the choice to put my family first.
