- Purchasing of drugs
- Manage stock within set minimum and maximum levels to serve the needs of the business.
- Train Vets/Nurses/Student Nurses/Reception at a level to their needs.
- Responsibility for controlled drugs within practice. Joint accountability with Clinical Director for any discrepancies and investigations.
- Ensure all standards are met for Practice Standards Inspection. Lead contact for Pharmacy during inspection.
- Keep up to date with new RCVS changes and implement them.
- Sourcing alternative medications when there are stock/availability issues.
- Following the cascade.
- Purchasing Veterinary specialist medications and chemotherapy drugs.
- Keeping SOP'S (Standard operating procedures) up to date and implementing them.
- Updating clinical staff/clients of any changes within medications.
- Client contact for prescription queries.
- Meeting with drug reps.
- Lead in the disposal and organisation of Controlled Drugs.
- First contact for any pharmacy related issues from our other branches.
- Monitor fridge temperature, cleaning schedules, uncollected prescriptions.
- Allocate ordered prescriptions to daily medication request list.
- Monitor prescription check (3 or 6 monthly basis)
- Date check, move stock and aliquot to prevent wastage.
- Visit branches and assist with stock
- Twice yearly stock takes
- Keep up to date with CPD
- I also give clinical advice and triage should the need arise within the hospital.
- Regular one to one meeting and yearly appraisal with my Pharmacy assistant.
