Work history

Band 7 paediatric diabetes nurse specialist

Royal Free NHS Foundation Trust
London

Based in North London, I have significantly contributed to the advancement of diabetes care services, increasing pump service usage from 33% to 71%, promoting the adoption of advanced diabetes technology. I have updated clinical policies and developed patient advice leaflets to ensure clarity and support for individuals with diabetes. As part of my commitment to professional development, I regularly deliver teaching sessions to healthcare professionals working with children and families, ensuring they are well-equipped with the latest knowledge and best practices. I actively attend conferences to stay current with advancements in the field and have successfully integrated new knowledge into my practice.

I am proficient in titrating insulin doses for MDI, CSII, and HCL therapies and have a strong track record of delivering training for the implementation of insulin pump therapy and HCL systems. I also lead community clinics for high HbA1c patients, improving access to care and driving better outcomes. In addition to my clinical work, I collaborate closely with multi-agency teams to ensure the safety of children with diabetes and address concerns as they arise. I manage a caseload of 250 children in collaboration with two other PDSNs, ensuring holistic care within our team.

Although the local area presents unique challenges, I approach each case with sensitivity and understanding to provide the best care possible. Through regular networking with stakeholders, industry workers, and healthcare professionals, I help foster ongoing service improvement and am proficient in a range of HCL systems and CGM devices, including Medtronic models & CGM, Ypsomed & CamsAPS, Omnipod 5, Dexcom series, Freestyle Libre systems, Twinkle, Glooko, Carelink, and local IT networking systems including Microsoft programs.
