I was responsible for reviewing staff files, meeting with existing and potential clients and liaising with the partners.

I ensured I kept upto date with all relevant legislation.

Reviewed staff files and liaiased with partners, clients and tax authorities. Kept upto date with all CPD legislation. Regular meetings with clients and carried out audits of a number of entities, including charities.

Prepared accounts and tax returns for limited companies, partnerships and sole traders for partner review. Submitted returns to HMRC and Companies House.

Supervised spin and HIIT classes; had great fun engaging with the members. Undertook 1-2-1 classes with members. When on duty, ensured the gym in general was kept tidy and the equipment, changing rooms and toilets were kept clean.

Designed and organised manufacturing of educational gifts, primarily aimed at children. This included writing and designing books. Products were sold across the UK and abroad by attending both trade and county shows and Christmas markets such as Winchester where I engaged with the general public throughout the day.

Ran my own chartered accountancy practice, initially on my own but building up staff levels to 12 over the length of the business. It was a general chartered accountancy practice and my prtincipal tasks were client engagement, interviewing potential clients and liaising with the tax authorities and Companies House. It was a happy and relaxed atmosphere and an enjoyable environment in which to work.

Every other Friday I would volunteer at the Passage, a homeless charity run by Nuns in Victoria London. The hours would be from 7am to around 3pm and duties could involve anything from making breakfast or serving breakfast, cleaning tables, washing up, peeling potatoes and simply chatting and listening to those who came in to receive some food and relax. It was definitely one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

Worked at both a small practice and one of the 'Big 8' (Pannell Kerr Forster) whilst taking my professional exams to qualify as a chartered accountant. My role encompassed both audit (including large entities such as Jewson and Blue Circle Cement) and accounts preparation; on both levels I was with a senior manager.

Served in a fish and chip shop on Friday and Saturday evenings, liaising with the general public.
