  • Responsible for managing a £50M PA rental revenue process for the Group (Liverpool, Manchester Ship Canal, Clyde Port, Heysham Port, Medway, and Great Yarmouth).
  • Working with the group surveyors in the estates team to ensure the property system was kept up to date to account for new tenant income streams and tenants vacating. Accounting for rent uplifts and RPI increases.
  • Full sales ledger responsibility. Invoicing tenants each week/month/quarter and dealing with any customer queries and debt queries.
  • Posting and accounting for the rental revenue and checking monthly control reports explaining any variance against budget.
  • Assisted the estates team for five years with regards to budget and forecast preparation, producing line by line budget reports for all projected tenant income streams for each business entity.
  • Responsible for invoicing shipping lines for accumulated marine operational costs including the costs of using the pilotage service, costs of ship tie ups and vessel movements on the quay side.
  • Responsible for invoicing customers for refrigerated shipping container charges.
  • Responsible for billing our large 3rd party electricity customers.
  • Assisting other departments within the business (as and when they needed support) with regards to bank reconciliations, supplier, and intercompany reconciliations.
  • Ad hoc assignments such as producing financial reports and trackers to assist and continually improve in key business areas. One area being the ports 8M PA private electricity network business. This involved analysing the electricity consumption of the Port to provide management with information on how electricity is consumed internally and by our third-party customers.
  • Responsible for amalgamating newly acquired business entities (being Clyde Port and Great Yarmouth) rental processes and systems in line with the groups existing system to ensure smooth transitions.

Achievements within the role:-

  • Managing to successfully complete budget and forecast processes for my business areas.
  • Produced an excel/vision report that looked at individual rental trends by individual leases to give department heads a tool that assisted to budget and forecast effectively.
  • Building good working internal relationships with key individuals in Estates, Marine and Port Operations. This assisted to continually improve and maintain a smooth operation of various business areas revenue streams.
