Throughout my life so far, I have always been eager to learn and improve myself. I have an interest in photography and paddleboarding. I am a keen animal lover having several pets including a hamster, guinea pigs, a cat and now I have my own dog. I feel I have a lot of worldly experience working in different environments. Worked for an American summer camp for underprivileged children as a camp councillor which meant being responsible for 12 children for several weeks at a time ensuring they not only had fun but was also safe. I have also worked as a student ambassador showing potential students around the Collage, I have also volunteered at the Exotic Pet Refuge looking after all the animals there. I find I have always been friendly and approachable and always approach things with an open mind and calmly.
Within Sue Ryder I have worked in all aspects of charity retail. I started out as a volunteer/lead volunteer back in 2017. From there I progressed to a Bank Sales Assistant covering shops to keep them open whilst their staff were on holidays or ill. These shops were Eye, Ortongate, Standground, Standground Central, Spalding, Cherry Hinton, Thorpe Hall, Westwood, March and Lincoln Road.
Whilst I was Bank staff I covered the March Sue Ryder Shop for about 4 months full time as the only paid staff for the shop. This was my firsat proper management of a shop ensuring everything was done and the shop was making money. When I first went there there were no staff and volunteers at all due to the shop being closed for a little while. When I was there I made sure the shop standards were kept high, recruited a new volunteer team and they were very happy with how the shop was being ran and loved coming in. The shop then changed over to a different area and got a replacement due to me needing to go work in an American summer camp for 5 months.
After I came back the job as a Sales Supervisor at Herlington came up so I applied and got that job at a time the Shop Manager was leaving so in essence I became acting shop manager ensuring the shop continued to run smoothly and altering small parts of the shop to increase sales.
The job at Lincoln Road came up as a Sales Assistant which was the shop I really wanted to be working at in the first place as I like the bigger shops as it keeps me busy! At Lincoln Road I have been apart of the team since 2020 ensuring the standards are very high as well as raising ideas to increase sales and productivity throughout the shop like moving stock to different locations. I have been doing the stocktakes, health and safety as well as the risk assessment reviews.
At Sue Ryder I do anything that needs doing at shop level like assisting customers, sorting donations, PAT Testing, Sales Figures for the managers cluster, moving furniture around. Whilst the shop manager and assistant shop managers are off I am the duty manager and ensure there is still smooth operations within the shop as well as help other shops out if they ring the shop. I am currently helping the shop out as stepping up to do the assistant shop manager role due the the assistant shop manager promoting to another Sue Ryder shop.
I am a reserve dog handler in the British Army which entails working with military working dogs which have an array of abilities and roles. Whilst being in the army reserve I have been on an operational tour in Cyprus working as a Peace Keeper for the United Nations. This involved many things like communicating to the the general public and reporting issues for higher up as well as dealing with different things that need doing urgently. As well as being in Cyprus I was also apart of the King's Coronation which involved several weeks of practice marching before doing the actual parade in London. I have done a promotional course with the army in order to now be promoted to a lance corporal due to the army seeing leadership skills already in me. My routine training weekend (1 weekend a month) I ensure others are in the right place at the right time with the right equipment, I instruct and teach others millitary skills on top of working with the millitary working dogs.
