Responsibilities

• Management of a team of 7 (Consultants, System Engineers, and Database Administrators) who are responsible for the technical design and delivery of KCOM systems.
• The design, delivery and support of KCOM’s collaboration applications and infrastructure including Office 365, Microsoft Teams, Azure and other providers, Active Directory and Exchange.
• The operation and support of a hybrid cloud solution utilising VMWare and Azure services. This includes the provision of all associated disciplines, for example, capacity management, disaster recovery, patch and vulnerability management.
• Performance management of platforms using an array of toolsets, for example VRealise and Microsoft Operations Manager.
• Responsible for the databases underpinning KCOM’s critical internal systems, including SQL Server, Oracle, Ingres and Db2.
• Ensuring that all systems comply with the relevant Security requirements and standards, and assist with audits/accreditations as required (CyberEssentials Plus etc.)
• Communication with a wide range of stakeholders at KCOM in order to improve understanding and educate on best practice on using systems.
• Development of key performance indicators to allow for continual evaluation of service delivery and improvement.
• Provision of 2nd/3rd line support services for all Microsoft services and associated platforms.

Achievements

• Implementation of Multifactor Authentication for all external parties including always on connectivity to enhance support capabilities. Designed and delivered using existing capabilities to minimise capital expenditure.
• Ongoing cost reduction and avoidance by further migration to cloud based services with continual assessment of platform capabilities.
• Replacement of MobileIron device management with Microsoft Intune to further enhance device protection and delivery mechanisms.

Responsibilities

• Working as part of the Infrastructure delivery and support team. Responsible for the selection, specification and design of IT solutions to meet internal customer requirements.
• Providing day to day management and support of 400+ Microsoft servers and associated applications together with the installation and management of underlying host platforms.
• Management and administration of a Microsoft Enterprise Agreement with a value of £2 million.
• Subject matter expert for Microsoft licensing and support.
• Design, management and implementation of Microsoft Cloud Technologies including Azure and Office365.
• Technical lead for the specification and selection of end user computing systems.
• Agile Scrum Master for Infrastructure Services.

Achievements

• Migration to Office 365 and Hybrid Cloud infrastructure utilising Microsoft Azure providing unified service with single sign on and reducing software costs by £100K per annum
• Deployment of both HyperV and VMWare hosting solutions utilising a variety of hardware platforms, including the migration of systems from differing hypervisors and the migration of systems to Microsoft Azure as part of the adoption and development of Infrastructure as a Service.
• Customer experience improvement programme delivering Windows 10 introduction and hardware refresh covering 1400 users utilising automated deployment via Microsoft Systems Centre Configuration Manager.
• Delivery of a cloud-based workforce management systems utilising tablet and specialised WIFI technology to field engineering teams.

• Working as part of a team providing day to day management and support of 400+ Microsoft servers and associated applications.
• Technical Project lead on systems management and automation, utilising the systems management software ‘CA Unicenter’. Managing in excess of 400 cross platform servers and installation/integration of vendor provided hardware management systems (IBM Director, HP Insight & Dell OpenManage).
• Second line support activities for the full range of Microsoft products utilised in house including SQL Server (6.5, 7 & 2000), IIS, Exchange (Blackberry), SharePoint, Office & associated applications, together with a wide range of bespoke applications.
• Provision of 24 hour on call support.

• The day to day management and support of Novell & Microsoft Networks serving in excess of 2500 users across a LAN/WAN environment.
• Responsible for system administration of SQL Server 6.5/ 7/2000, Ingres and Business Objects Systems.
• The development of I.T. solutions (both hardware and software) specific to customer needs, including business analysis, planning, development and programming.
• Production of software packages specific to customer requirements using Microsoft Access.
• Installation and assembly of hardware, together with the installation of software, training of users and provision of support.
• Implementation of projects following the PRINCE2 methodology.
• Experienced in the use of Windows 3.11, 95, NT4, 2000, XP, Microsoft IIS, Microsoft Access, Visual Basic, Business Objects, SQL Server, Novell NetWare, Oracle SQL+, Ingres, OCR for Forms.

• All aspects of water quality monitoring, including sampling, analysis and reporting.
• Responsible for the operation, maintenance and training of users of the Environmental Health Computer System.
• Dealing directly with the public and external organisations.

Providing assistance to officers in all disciplines of Public Health i.e. Pollution Control, Pest Control, Infectious Diseases, Home Safety.
