Responsibilities


  • Management of a team of 7 (Consultants, System Engineers, and Database Administrators) who are responsible for the technical design and delivery of KCOM systems.
  • The design, delivery and support of KCOM’s collaboration applications and infrastructure including Office 365, Microsoft Teams, Azure and other providers, Active Directory and Exchange.
  • The operation and support of a hybrid cloud solution utilising VMWare and Azure services. This includes the provision of all associated disciplines, for example, capacity management, disaster recovery, patch and vulnerability management.
  • Performance management of platforms using an array of toolsets, for example VRealise and Microsoft Operations Manager.
  • Responsible for the databases underpinning KCOM’s critical internal systems, including SQL Server, Oracle, Ingres and Db2.
  • Ensuring that all systems comply with the relevant Security requirements and standards, and assist with audits/accreditations as required (CyberEssentials Plus etc.)
  • Communication with a wide range of stakeholders at KCOM in order to improve understanding and educate on best practice on using systems.
  • Development of key performance indicators to allow for continual evaluation of service delivery and improvement.
  • Provision of 2nd/3rd line support services for all Microsoft services and associated platforms.


Achievements


  • Implementation of Multifactor Authentication for all external parties including always on connectivity to enhance support capabilities. Designed and delivered using existing capabilities to minimise capital expenditure.
  • Ongoing cost reduction and avoidance by further migration to cloud based services with continual assessment of platform capabilities.
  • Replacement of MobileIron device management with Microsoft Intune to further enhance device protection and delivery mechanisms.

  • Management and administration of a Microsoft Enterprise Agreement with a value of £2 million.

Achievements


  • Migration to Office 365 and Hybrid Cloud infrastructure utilising Microsoft Azure providing unified service with single sign on and reducing software costs by £100K per annum
  • Deployment of both HyperV and VMWare hosting solutions utilising a variety of hardware platforms, including the migration of systems from differing hypervisors and the migration of systems to Microsoft Azure as part of the adoption and development of Infrastructure as a Service.
  • Customer experience improvement programme delivering Windows 10 introduction and hardware refresh covering 1400 users utilising automated deployment via Microsoft Systems Centre Configuration Manager.
  • Delivery of a cloud-based workforce management systems utilising tablet and specialised WIFI technology to field engineering teams.
