I worked with Octavius on the Powerbond project at Winchester and Micheldever, which were the first sites to have a combined DC and Negative units.
For Atkins re signalling Phase 4 and 5 we pulled in the new signalling cables and for Alstom we were involved with the re signalling project from Farncombe to Petersfield until RJ Power Rail went into administration.
I was greatly involved in the running of a project which involved upgrading the DC cables and substations from Victoria to Balham. I had involvement in ordering the required materials and planning what works were to be done during the possessions.
Later on I got involved with another DC upgrade package in the Southampton to New Forest area.
This is where it all started.
I spent a couple of years on the civils side, installing trough and GRP routes for various projects including DC cables, points heating and communications to name a few.
When Trakside won the works to install a new substation and DC cable works at the being built Hitachi depot in Ashford I was able to get involved and learn how to install DC positive and negative cabling.
