I am an experienced HGV class 1 driver with a clean UK driving licence. I have been driving class 1 since 2006, and have extensive knowledge of the UK road network and UK and EU drivers' hours and tachograph rules. I am punctual, clean and tidy and have my own transport to get to and from work.
I always complete all compliance paperwork to a high standard and I am well-versed in the DVSA guide to maintaining roadworthiness, categorisation of defects, and construction and use regulations.
Since the closure of my company "XTransport" I have been doing some agency work for various local companies.
- Staffline, Avonmouth (Chill deliveries to Tesco stores)
- DHL Avonmouth (Aircraft parts, TK Maxx stores)
- Conway Bailey (Chill deliveries to RDCs and to Sainsbury stores)
I owned and managed a fleet of 10 articulated vehicles alongside my wife, where we delivered ambient and temperature controlled goods to the UK, Ireland and EU. I was responsible for all aspects of running a haulage company including route planning, operator licence compliance, vehicle maintenance, recruitment and training, budget forecasting and ensuring financial stability within the company. We started this company ourselves from scratch, starting off with one truck each and building it up into a thriving small business which eventually employed 11 people.
We worked for several blue chip companies including Tesco and McDonalds, and we also operated our own warehouse facility where I was responsible for documenting goods coming and and out, and loading/unloading customer vehicles safely and in a timely manner.
I owned a food trailer, which during the week was operated from Newhouse Farm industrial estate in Chepstow, then on weekends I would cater for events such as car shows, fetes, horse events and charity events etc.
I was responsible for all aspects of running the trailer including stock control, cooking, keeping all paperwork up to date, booking in events, cashflow forecasting etc.
I worked for Wilko, delivering caged goods to stores in Wales, south West, London, and the Midlands.
I also worked on the contract at Tesco Distribution in Magor, delivering ambient groceries to Tesco stores in Wales and the south West.
Transporting newspapers on a strict delivery schedule to distribution centres, alongside general haulage all over the UK. I also worked in the office, planning and organising drivers and vehicles.
I worked as a contract supervisor and yard shunter for their contract at "Intertissue" at the production and distribution site in Baglan.
I made sure that all trailers on site were loaded on schedule, and assigned to the drivers for delivery in a timely manner.
During this time I worked for various companies in south Wales delivering palletised goods all over the UK.
