I am a 15 Year old pupil at QES in Kirkby Lonsdale. I am applying to become an apprentice carpenter, which offers the opportunity to earn a wage whilst learning a trade.
I have had an Interest in working with wood and natural materials, particularly bespoke furniture design for a long time and have focused my Secondary education around this ambition.
I am highly motivated and enthusiastic, particularly in acquiring new skills and understanding and enjoy the practical application of these skills.

I joined Silverdale Scouts in 2022 and attended Red Rose National Jamboree. I took part in the first ever organised scout trip to Morocco, trekking and climbing for a week. the final ascent was Mount Toubkal.
I am a keen mountain biker and enjoy taking my BMX to local pump tracks.
I have pursued my interest in Martial Arts since I was four years old, gaining brown belt in Karate and Black belt in Taekwondo. I spent two years MMA training with Shay Walsh and have recently started Boxing in Lancaster.
Through my hobbies and interests I have gained valuable transferable skills in self-discipline, reflection, motivation, commitment and dedication.
I have been supporting the family business for over two years. My main roles include taking, preparing and serving food and beverage orders, clearing tables, washing up and all other KP duties.
I have learnt how to manage my time and work under extreme pressure of a busy service and gained effective communication skills with customers and team members.
I am currently learning effective food preparation skills and am now able to prepare 90% of the menu, under close supervision.
I understand the importance of presentation and strive to produce high quality dishes for every customer.
I am able to take full responsibility of closing down, ensuring all checks are made and the Kitchen and shop are cleaned to a very high standard.
I have proven myself as mature and responsible with a high work ethic; always keen to work to the very best of my abilities.
I decided to gain additional practical experience during my February half term holiday. I particularly wanted to experience Site Joinery, as a contrast to my Bench Joinery experience in year 10.
I enjoyed my few days at Panararmer Ltd, working alongside a small team on site at a house in Ulverston. Whilst there I gained valuable first hand experience in working on site, preparing rooms by removing units and then using a range of hand and power tools under advice and close guidance from my supervisor.
I showed a keen eagerness to learn, follow instructions and get along with all team members.
Feedback following my time there was very positive and management would consider offering an apprenticeship position.
I thoroughly enjoyed my year 10 work experience at HOUT Design in Holme and it reinforced my ambition to become an integral part of a high quality, bespoke company, producing unique designs in furniture and construction. I gained valuable experience of working within a close knit, highly skilled team, in a supportive role, as well as being able to gain practical experience in using a range of hand and power tools.
Whilst at HOUT Design, I was able to complete a small project, creating a bespoke planter, (see portfolio), under the professional guidance of the team there.
