Work history

Gardener

Self employed, Upper/Lower Largo
2023.03 - 2026.03
  • I have worked as a gardener mainly for elderly or absent homeowners around the villages I live in. This has involved general lawn upkeep, plant care, tree and hedge trimming, and ensuring that my customers can walk and enjoy their gardens safely. I ensure that I talk to my customers and communicate with them what I think is best and what they wish for their gardens, as well as being there to make sure they have someone to speak to so they don't get lonely. Because I get to know my customers I will also help them with any issues they are having inside the house, for example installing appliances or a heavy lifting job, as I believe in making sure I can help out customers any way I can. Because gardening can be drastically affected by weather conditions, I also have a lot of practice with setting boundaries for safety and being flexible with the customer's and my time on a job.

Barista/Server

Salty Dog Beach Cafe
Elie, Fife
2025.06 - 2025.09
  • I worked as a barista for the Salty Dog Beach Café, a hatch-style café where customers would come to a window and would be served fresh sandwiches, rolls, and an array of drinks. This involved using a coffee machine, a kettle, and smoothie machines to make a variety of hot and cold drinks for customers, catering to requests and specifications with ease. I also gained experience in food prep, making fresh breakfast rolls and paninis to be served throughout the day. I always kept my workspace tidy and polished, washing and cleaning dirty equipment or cutlery whenever I had a spare moment. I also cleaned around and inside the building to keep the space tidy and up-to-standards for the sailing club members who used the building as well. I prioritised keeping the customers happy, and enjoyed the quick chat with the beach-goers. I also made sure to get along well with my co-workers, so that we would run a tight ship and be able to enjoy the work even with a large rush. I swiftly picked up experience with the till, being able to easily calculate the discounts that the sailing club members and the local lifeguards had. I was very comfortable working in the fast-paced pressure and always managed to keep on top of my tasks and pay attention to detail.

Artist's Assistant

Remembering Together Fife, Lundin Links
2024.11 - 2025.04
  • I worked for Katie Fowlie as part of the Remembering Together Programme for the reflection, remembrance and healing from mental health issues, particularly with the impacts of COVID-19. I personally assisted with manual labour tasks around the office and workshop, as well as arts and crafts tasks, helping create pieces used in outreach events and for the final national project. I also aided in workshop maintenance, ensuring that fragile and potentially hazardous materials were stored correctly and efficiently.

Throughout school I have been a good mentor and role model for younger students, performing prefect duties, being a senior mentor in the Waid Academy Music department, where I helped peers and younger pupils with issues in composition, practical and theory. I pride myself in helping others, and always aim to volunteer wherever I can. This has led me to join the county wide Concert Band and Youth Orchestra, where I represented my school in public performances. Additionally I joined the National Youth Wind Ensemble with the Royal Conservatoire in Glasgow and take part in the Lundin Links Community Choir. I have taken on several leadership roles, for example, I achieved a Black Belt in Karate at 16, not only does this show my dedication to the sport (joining when I was around 6), but also my dedication to my club, helping my Sensei by leading junior classes and assisting peers in their training.
