Working as part of a large caring nursing team, to assess and deliver treatment and help patients on their way to recovery from illness or injury.
Working with people is the thing I am most passionate about and always have been. Before becoming a nurse I had always worked in customer service as part of a team. I always loved the roles I was in.
I now get to work with people in a whole different way, a much more rewarding way. Caring for patients as part of a team is my passion. Going above and beyond to make each individual's experience the best it can be and never forgetting how much great communication can make a difference.
I am a hardworking, committed and driven person always looking forward to learning more to improve my knowledge, skills and competence.

- Stream Patients to the necessary team within the Emergency Department and the hospital. I.e. Urgent Care, Accident and Emergency, Medics, Surgeons, Gynaecology, Trauma and Orthopaedics, Surgical assessment unit and Same Day Emergency Care.
- Working as part of a large nursing team, alongside Doctors of all grades and other healthcare professionals to deliver the best safe and effective care for approximately 200 to 300 patients coming in to department per day currently.
- Triage patients to assess the severity of injury or illness within appropriate time. Prioritising and transferring each patient to the appropriate area for further assessment and treatment.
- Communicating with patients and their relatives to gain all relevant information and history in regards to their presenting complaint.
- Measuring and recording vital signs to give an indication of patient's physiological state, and continued measuring of vital signs to monitor improvement or allow for prompt detection of deterioration.
- Collecting specimens for lab analysis, such as, blood, cultures, urine, faeces, sputum, wound swabs and swabs for other types of infections.
- Carrying out certain interventions to improve conditions for which patients are being treated. I.e. Cannulation, catheterisation and wound care.
- Preparing patients for, and performing electrocardiograms.
- Transporting to and assisting patients in X-ray and CT.
- Administering medications and treatments, orally, subcutaneously, intramuscular and intravenously as prescribed to improve the patients condition, with continuous re-assessment and monitoring.
- Quickly respond to and act when finding reduced consciousness, unresponsive or seizing patients and carry out certain roles during cardiac arrest.
- Assisting patients with personal care, mobilising and ensuring dietary requirements are met.
- Communicating with and updating relatives, and planning for patients return home.
- Detailed and accurate, continuous documentation.
- Further referrals to specialities within the department and other teams in the hospital, such as, physio and OT and the Outreach and ITU team.
- Using communication skills to liaise with Multidisciplinary Teams to ensure best outcomes of care.
- Handover of patients to other departments and wards.
- Ensuring compliance with training and follow hospitals policies and procedures.
