I am a hard-working, resilient and motivated individual always willing to go beyond what is asked of me. Directly working alongside Civil Engineers during work experience and completing my Civil Engineering degree with honours has helped me develop essential team work and leadership skills and given me crucial involvement within the field.
Whilst with NRW, as a Sixth Form student visiting, I spent a week shadowing Civil Engineers as they completed hydraulics projects and travelled from site to site. During this week of work experience, I was shadowing numerous Civil Engineers as they moved between sites. Towards the end of the week, I then presented to them a de-brief of all I had learnt and self-assessed figures linked with the numerous projects. On completion of the week, I was praised for my enthusiasm and hard work. The process allowed me to develop myself personally, through gaining confidence and strengthening numerous key skills, incl. teamwork, analytical skills, and time managements.
This role is my current full-time employment. As part of this role, I have witness improved team productivity through effective communication and collaboration. The role is giving me a greater understanding of the protocols and procedures in place to ensure a safe working site. As my time at GD Environmental is only beginning, whilst employed here I wish to improve my leadership and teamwork skills by understanding where I am needed and applying knowledge I have acquired to aid in the efficiency of the team.
I started this role as the UK was entering its post pandemic era and remained here for the three years of my degree at Cardiff University. Having the added responsibility of a part-time job with consistent shift work during my degree taught me the importance of time management. The four years that I spent working in childcare has enhanced my social development through effectively communicating with parents to keep them informed about their child's progress. This role taught me how important effective teamwork is and helped me learn leadership skills when approaching challenging situations.
This role changed overtime and begun with me working as a waiter and then progressing to becoming a bartender/mixologist. During my time as a part-time waiter, I would deliver food and drinks to paying customers, whilst also taking orders and payment when needed. Two years of demanding work saw me progress to learning how to create an array of different cocktails and become a bartender/mixologist at the establishment. During my time at La Luna, I grew as a person gaining more confidence each day and expanding my people skills weekly. La Luna taught me how valuable time management is to any successful team and has allowed me to develop many skills, such as, multi-tasking.

Leadership: Working as a bartender allowed me to learn vital leadership and effective communication in a working team within a high stress scenario Being able to remain calm and continue to lead a team when put under pressure situation was vital when working at the La Luna Restaurant and Cocktail Lounge
Communication: During my current employment, effective communication skills are important to ensure safety around sites Understanding the importance of good communication skills is vital when working alongside heavy machinery to ensure safety on site and I believe that my current employment with GD Environmental will continue to demonstrate to me the importance of good communication within a successful team
