As a relief store manager, I am responsible for the operation of Games Workshop's Warhammer Bradford store when the primary manager is either unavailable or requires another person on site.
- Provided friendly, knowledgeable customer service to a variety of people with diverse backgrounds, ages and needs. Frequently asked to explain or demonstrate various aspects of the hobby.
- Perform tasks typical in a retail position, including processing transactions, making orders, making deliveries, opening and closing the shop and cashing up.
- Given that the store is typically ran by a single member of staff, I am expected to carry out all of the above duties, as well as deal with any problems that arise, by myself. For example, after the store location changed, I encountered numerous IT issues that prevented the cash register from functioning correctly. I have been able to balance working with appropriate personnel to fix the issue via phone call, whilst simultaneously keeping the store operational. I did this by manually recording each transaction on paper and then inputting it through the till at the end of the day, whilst communicating with a resource co-ordinator to ensure no errors were made.
Current volunteer at my local football club, working in a customer facing kitchen to serve food and drinks to patrons every Tuesday and Saturday. Within this role I have:
-Developed my teamwork and communication skills enormously as part of a small team of 2-4 people.
-Manage time, multi-task effectively and remaining calm to ensure all orders are delivered promptly and correctly during frequent, extremely busy services.
-Use problem solving to work around any issues or unforeseen occurrences, such as an unusually large order for players or equipment failure.
-Utilise all of the above skills to serve up to 3000 customers per match.
