Work history

Site Support Driver

Ameon Utilities
Blackpool, Lancashire
10.2022 - Current

My primary job role is site support driver for a extremely busy utilities company, on a day to day basis my duties would regularly change to meet the demand of the clients on the construction sites. Duties include delivering expensive goods ranging from cable drums to gas and water connections working to critical time frames and deadlines. It is my responsibility to also collect surplus goods from site and safely return them back to the work yard. This will involve correctly strapping loads to the trailer to comply with the road traffic act. Every job was logged correctly, professionally and delivered with outstanding customer care.

I have also obtained my site supervisor qualification which has improved my site safety knowledge, this also means I can supervise the work we are undertaking within the sites and liaise with site managers, My other duties also include taking and logging deliveries to the work yard and also cleaning and maintaining the yard to the highest standard.

Traffic management operative

My primary role was to work as part of a team to ensure the correct methods of traffic management were put into practice. This included completing site hazard assessments and submitting daily work reports to comply with regulations and to make sure the safety of myself but also the road user was to the highest standard. The role was very hands on and included correctly loading the vehicle with the relevant cones, barriers and signage as well as making sure the traffic lights were serviced correctly for proper use.

HGV Class 1 Driver

My primary role in the RAF was a HGV driver, I spent the bulk of my career in the aircraft refuelling side of the job. Duties included carrying out morning inspections on the vehicle and carrying out fuel samples and testing. I also carried out aircraft refuelling on both fixed and rotary wing aircraft, carried out daily sweeping of the runways and taxiways fully understanding the dangers of FOD. In both the UK and on overseas deployments I gained experience with the snow and ice side of the job making sure the runway and taxiways are both cleared to not compromise operations.

Towards the end of my RAF career I worked in the maintenance and stock control side of the job. This included making sure all vehicles were correctly fitted with equipment to make them road legal and correcting any changes that needed to be made. International deployments were based in the Falkland Islands, Romania, Estonia and Germany.
