As a newly appointed office administrator, I handled various administrative and support tasks vital for the efficient functioning of the business. My responsibilities included managing office communications, coordinating schedules, and keeping records. My background in logistics has provided me with strong organisational skills and a sharp attention to detail, allowing me to effectively address the ever-changing demands of our construction projects.
During my seven years at BjBabb, I have helped coordinate and deliver over 20 million pounds of materials and bespoke furniture. Daily, my role involved contacting builders' merchants to secure better prices, communicating with customers to keep them informed, and overseeing the transport of stock from our yard to our vehicles for delivery to customers' homes.
In early 2023, I embarked on creating my own cleaning company. After spending hours working as a logistics operator, I developed FairClean and managed to build up a client base whose homes I would regularly clean on weekends. Although I drew from my experience in building a photography company a few years earlier, I still encountered numerous new challenges and obstacles that I had to overcome. I realised the importance of treating each home with the same level of care and attention to detail, ensuring that everything was restored to its original placement if moved.
In my short six months spent living in Australia during the beginning of COVID-19, I found work at Mozzarella. Through the short few months I worked there, I quickly became trusted to open and close the restaurant on my own. This meant preparing the tills, tables and seats. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, the restaurant was busy and remained open. I didn't have much time to ease into the role. I made plenty of mistakes in the beginning, but I learned from those mistakes just as quickly as I made them.
After graduating from performing arts college in 2017, I discovered a passion for photography. Within a year, I collaborated with many talented models and actors. Initially, I dedicated countless hours after my regular job at BjBabb to researching and contacting potential collaborators to build our portfolios. Out of the approximately 500 people I reached out to, 40 responded, and 20 ended up working with me. During this time, I had to stay self-motivated. As time went on, I established a close relationship with a modelling agency. Their referrals brought in numerous clients, significantly boosting my business.
