I am a highly motivated and community-focused individual with extensive hands-on experience engaging and mentoring young people through community-led initiatives in Coseley. I currently lead and support several volunteer groups, including The Coseley Pickers (community litter-picking), the Coseley Running & Walking Association (health and wellbeing activities), and the Coseley Green Team (volunteer grounds maintenance and environmental projects). I also actively support wellbeing walks in Silver Jubilee Park, promoting positive mental and physical health.
A key motivation for pursuing youth and community work stems from my experience working as an Au Pair in Australia, where I supported children and young people in their day-to-day development, wellbeing, and routines. This role deepened my understanding of the importance of positive role models, safe environments, and consistent support in young people’s lives. It also sparked my long-term commitment to community projects that improve the environments in which young people live, grow, and feel a sense of belonging.
Through my community roles, I have developed strong skills in engaging, motivating, and supporting young people from diverse backgrounds, often working alongside adults and community partners. I consistently create safe, inclusive, and supportive environments where young people feel listened to, respected, and encouraged to take part in positive activities that benefit both themselves and their wider community.
I have built strong, trusting relationships with young people in the local area, many of whom know me personally and feel comfortable approaching me to share concerns, ideas, or information about local issues. This trust enables me to act as a positive role model and reliable point of contact, supporting early intervention, safeguarding awareness, and community cohesion.
My experience has strengthened my communication, teamwork, safeguarding awareness, and youth engagement skills. I am committed to empowering young people to develop confidence, resilience, and a sense of responsibility, helping them to make positive choices and contribute positively to their community.
