Summary

I am a motivated A-level student with a strong interest in software engineering and practical problem-solving. I have developed my skills through personal projects using Python, web development, and databases, and I am currently learning how AI and large language models can be applied to career and productivity tools. Alongside this, I have gained hands-on experience working in team-based environments, which has helped me build strong communication and teamwork skills. I enjoy learning independently, asking questions, and improving by taking feedback from others. I am now seeking a degree apprenticeship in software engineering where I can contribute to real projects while continuing to develop my technical and professional skills.

Work history

Team Member (Current)

Morrisons Flower World
Sinfin, Derby
2024.01 - Current
  • Work as part of a team to design, arrange, and prepare flower bouquets for nationwide distribution.
  • Follow daily production targets while maintaining accuracy and quality in all arrangements.
  • Communicate with team members and team leader to ensure tasks are completed on time and meet company standards.
  • Working here so far has helped me develop clearer communication, stronger teamwork, and practical problem-solving skills.
  • I have also learned and followed important workplace safety procedures to ensure a safe and organised working environment.

Event Planning Assistant & Junior Developer

Ferns and Petals
Sinfin, Derby
2022.01 - 2023.12
  • Worked as part of a small team to support event design, including hall setup, table layouts, and floral arrangements.
  • Communicated regularly with team members to make sure tasks were completed on time and matched client needs including asking for help to avoid mistakes.
  • Designed and built a custom event planning system using Python (Tkinter) and SQLite3 to help the team organise event details more easily.
  • Added automated features to calculate the number of flowers, table covers, and chair covers needed for each event size. This enabled us to determine the precise quantity of items required for events, ensuring that we avoid any losses.
  • Created a small database system to store event information so the team could access details quickly and avoid manual errors.
  • The system we developed helped improve accuracy, reduce mistakes, and speed up the overall preparation process.
  • Being involved in this project has helped me strengthen my communication skills and understand the importance of working effectively as part of a team.

Personal Project

Physics Quiz & Certificate Platform: python (Tkinter, SQLite3)

Created and developed a digital platform for my physics teacher as a replacement for traditional paper-based quizzes. This platform includes a secure student database to store information, scores, and quiz history. To alleviate the workload of grading numerous papers, I built an automated marking system. Additionally, I added a certificate generation feature for students who successfully complete quizzes. To receive a certificate, a student must achieve a score exceeding 50%. Depending on their percentage mark, students can generate either a bronze, silver, or gold certificate. In conclusion, the quiz system was designed to meet students’ needs while reducing the time and stress involved in marking paper-based quizzes. The teacher can easily add or remove questions, making the system flexible and simple to use. I gathered feedback by speaking with students about the design and worked closely with my teacher to ensure the final system was clear and practical for her to manage.

I have published and shared the complete code for this program on GitHub: https://github.com/DanielOlagoke/Physics-Quiz-and-certificate-platform..git

CareerHub – Career Development Web Application (In Progress):

  • Currently developing a web application that aims to help students improve their CVS, assess skills, explore suitable job roles and provides guidance on creating personal statements based on a user’s future career or field of study.
  • Building the project using Python (Flask), HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with a focus on a clear and user-friendly interface.
  • Designed front-end layouts for CV analysis features while learning how feedback logic will be implemented in the backend.
  • Learning how to apply large language models (LLMs) to support personal statement generation and understand how AI-based text generation can be used in real applications.
  • Designing and testing an interactive skills assessment section to suggest possible career paths based on user strengths.
  • Continuing to improve the job-matching feature by exploring ways to compare user skills with job requirements.
  • Work in progress; project resources available upon request.
