  • I am currently working as part of the management for the construction Melksham 400Kv Sub-Station transformer SGT8 civils build.
  • On a daily activity consists of delivering toolbox talks, Managing temporary works, sub-contractors, , material orders, plant orders.
  • Safety management on site.
  • I also work closely with NG on site to deliver the scheme to a high standard and stress free.
  • I make myself an integral member of the team, by always making myself available and approachable.
  • I go over and above within my role to push my standards to achieve my self-goals that I personally set.
  • I work closely with the commercial team to manage all costs to the project, to ensure the cost management is being acknowledged and monitored constantly.

  • It was my key role to manage the day-to-day running of the building site, which meant that I had to coordinate multifaceted site operations, this included ensuring that colleagues had sufficient tasks to carry out during the day and it was my responsibility to ensure that these tasks were carried out in an effective manner in order to comply with Building Regulations and Health and Safety standards.
  • The ordering and management of plant and materials was one of main duties, this meant that I had to be organised and have a foresight over the job as a whole to ensure that the site was run in a proficient manner.
  • During my time with the firm I liaised with clients, the Local Authority representatives and Utility Companies as I was the first point of contact on the site.

  • My key role was the setting out of building plots on the site, this encompassed drawing reading, levelling and marking out the coordinates of the building.

  • Again, I worked on various small building sites dealing with their general daily management.
  • During my time with this firm, I was also undertaking my BETEC National Certificate in Bridgend College.
  • This allowed me to gain transferable skills from my course and employ them in the workplace.
  • I worked closely with the owner of the firm to ensure that operations were carried out smoothly; this allowed him to be aware of all of the daily site operations.

Ground worker – Trainee Building Engineer

  • During my time with this large construction company, I developed my role from a Ground worker to a Trainee Engineer and began the BTEC National Certificate in Construction.
  • I worked alongside a Civil Engineer on a daily basis, this allowed me to develop my own engineering skills and gain a greater understanding of the role of an engineer.
  • I set out buildings on a daily basis and by shadowing a Civil Engineer I was able to mark out plots with confidence.
  • The role of the Engineer was to arrange the labour, plant and materials and I was able to obtain and develop my own organisation skills which I have taken to future roles, this role also gave me an insight as to how large organisations are structured and their daily operations.
