Additional Information

  • Rehabilitation 1-1 appointments Since joining Novus, I have the potential to see over 100 patients a week in a range of settings and this has brought me to the understanding that I know nowhere near as much as I thought after graduating, but I am striving to develop daily. My role is often utilised after a patient has seen their physiotherapist, where we would proceed to help a patient thoroughly understand the reasons behind rehab, guide them away from aggravating factors, towards easing factors, create a tailored exercise plan, and then monitor progress on their journey. This may consist of Range of motion testing, strength testing, Gait analysis, with the potential to see some dermatomes, myotomes. Etc. I often pride myself on my people skills and helping the patient feel valued and heard. So achieving these 1-1 appointments in a 20 minute window is a daily challenge. Soft tissue manual therapy One of the only Health institutes in west Yorkshire that will provide this service. Novus is trying to mould physiotherapy care going forward; seemingly with success. I have soft tissue experience going back 7-8 years and have intermittently done it ever since, so would consider this one of my biggest strengths. This mostly being massage, cupping, some manual manipulations, and progressing; hopefully dry needling can be added to my Arsenal within the next 6 months. Triaging/Admin work Will often consist of calling and booking our patients into relevant classes or appointment slots with necessary bodies; ERI's, Physiotherapists, Senior Physiotherapists when there is an escalation of care, and referring onto other services. My role deals with the most patient face to face encounters out of the business so can be stressful but shows resilience, time keeping ability and most importantly effective communication. Some feedback from patients

Interests

Volunteering 100 + hours as a part of my sports placement with Novos rugby club. (2018) My mother unfortunately suffers from a long list of physical conditions, COPD, Osteoporosis, etc. which has indirectly given me a very raw and thorough understanding of these settings; potentially making me an ideal candidate for therapy roles, assessment roles etc. Bsc Sports and Exercise Rehabilitation. Newcastle Coll University Centre. (2015-2018), Spanish , Individually, I am always at my most content when I am adventuring, in every sense of the word. Love traveling abroad! Japan being a personal favourite of mine. And Football. Interests/Hobbies , A few accomplices and I have somehow found ourselves invested in a bus-to-camper conversion project… hopefully completed before summer September 22 . May 2022- Current Novus Health - Exercise Rehabilitation Instructor. Wakefield Exercise classes: By far the most challenging but the most fun part of my day. The classes we lead at Novus consist of a Lower back pain class, an Osteo-arthritis hip and knee class, a Falls prevention class, and most recently a Shoulder class. Understandably, with a class often consisting of 5-16 people, who in majority are in some form of pain, these classes can be tricky. Understanding how to communicate and help the patient understand that each and every one of their concerns can be met even in a class environment. We try to deliver some form of education into our exercise classes too, to help patients further understand their pains thus allowing to make amendments to combat them going forward. And HAVE FUN. But finally seeing someone physically and mentally improve when they get on board with exercise is extremely rewarding.
