Established the Centre for Responsible Credit as an independent company limited by guarantee, and subsequently obtained charitable status. Expanded its Board, strengthened governance procedures and recruited to a small core staff team of 3.2 FTEs. Oversee all operations including with respect to policy development, research projects, funder relations, and supply chain management.
Established the Centre for Responsible Credit as an independently directed research and policy unit within the Centre for Economic and Social Inclusion (later transferred to the Learning and Work Institute). Responsible for the delivery of high impact research and policy development activities, including the development of a programme of national conferences and events, utilising staff resources from within the host organisations and external associates
Worked directly to the Chief Executive, undertaking policy and research relating to employment and skills support systems, including contributions to the joint Department for Work and Pensions and Communities and Local Government review of measures to tackle worklessness, which resulted in the £1 billion Future Jobs Fund in October, 2009. Built networks amongst key stakeholders including Government Ministers, Parliamentarians, civil servants, local authorities and the voluntary sector. Organised a wide-range range of conferences and events and led the City Strategy Learning Network, supporting 15 local authorities to deliver the ambitions of the Department for Work and Pensions City Strategy initiative. Also worked on projects commissioned by Government's Child Poverty Unit during this period
Responsible for a staff team of approximately 20 FTEs, including in-house services providing welfare benefits and employment advice, and for a grants programme of around £1 million with respect to voluntary sector services including housing and debt advice. Worked in partnership with the Community Legal Service to identify commissioning priorities and led the service through a Best Value Review, reshaping provision in the City to improve effectiveness. Also developed a nationally recognised Minimum Wage enforcement project focused on workers in Leicester's textile industry, and brought in additional external funding from the Home Office to support refugees and asylum seekers. Developed an innovative partnership with health services to provide benefits support to people with long-term health problems utilising Single Regeneration Budget funding.
Managed a small team of debt advice workers (4 FTEs). Represented in County Court proceedings with respect to mortgage and rent repossessions and liaised internally with Council Tax and Housing Departments. Also provided advice and representation with respect to social security appeals.
Provided debt and benefits advice to residents, including County Court representation in mortgage and rent repossession cases, and at social security appeals tribunals. Developed an innovative joint partnership with Warwickshire Probation Service providing advice to ex-offenders across the county, with responsibilities for training and supervision of three Probation Service Support Officers.

1999 - 2007: Co-founder and Chair of the Debt on our Doorstep Coalition. Brought together over 200 grassroots organisations, including debt advice agencies, credit unions, and faith groups to campaign for caps on the cost of credit and greater investment in affordable provision. The campaign led to a competition commission inquiry into door-to-door moneylenders (also known as 'home credit') in 2005, and to the introduction of responsible lending requirements in the Consumer Credit Act (2006).
2005 - 2010: Co-founder of the European Coalition for Responsible Credit, which organised conferences in Brussels, Hamburg, Trento, Edinburgh and London, bringing together academics, credit providers, regulators and policymakers to discuss the need for responsible lending requirements. Subsequently also spoke at events in Vilnius, Washington D.C., and Sapporo on behalf of the coalition.
