CYNTHIA OGHENEFEJIRO OMOGHA

During my National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), which is a requirement for all students in Nigeria after graduation, I was posted to a government school where I acted as an assistant teacher, working alongside my head teacher, following her lead and working independently whenever she was not on duty or required me to take care of the activity of the day alone. I was assigned to teach Junior Secondary School One (J.S.S.1). Home Economics, and Social Studies. While I was an assisting teacher, I also carried out other tasks such as:

• Providing one-to-one support to pupils requiring additional help, enhancing their learning outcomes.
• Maintained student safety inside and outside classrooms in line with school safeguarding policies.
• Established positive relationships with students, leading by example and responding appropriately to classroom needs.
• Assisted in the creation and maintenance of a safe classroom environment, minimising risks and hazards.
• Cleaned and organised classrooms before lessons and cleared afterwards.
• Offered emotional support and guidance to pupils, fostering resilience and well-being.
• Helped students master learning concepts through one-on-one and small group tutoring.
• Assisted pupils with special educational needs, enabling equal access to learning resources and opportunities.
• Gave tests, invigilated exams and marked pupils' work.

I graduated from Delta State University, Abraka, Delta State, Nigeria. From the Department of Music, during my study, I was employed as a cleaner by a cleaning company contracted by the University called Sea Treasure Limited as part-time staff. My roles and duties included proper cleaning of two classrooms, which seated fifty pupils; one university lecture hall, seating 100 students; an office, and one restroom.

• Completed cleaning projects on time, maintaining customer satisfaction and loyalty.
• Deep cleaned floors by shampooing, hoovering, mopping and sweeping surfaces.
• Conducted deep cleaning of restrooms, including sanitising toilets, sinks, and mirrors for hygiene upkeep.
• Dusted and polished window frames and wiped down glass, maintaining clean and clear areas.
• Emptied bins, collecting and sorting waste and recyclables for compacting and disposal.
• Communicated regularly with supervisors and managers to obtain feedback on quality, service and care.
• Completed daily logs, detailing work completed, labour hours and site locations.

After my graduation in 2015, my job ended because the opportunity was strictly for willing students still studying under the university.
