· To enable the patient/client to maintain their hygiene and appearance, including personal cleanliness, personal grooming, and dressing, and also to enable them to maintain their mobility in their immediate environment.
· To assist the patient/client with toileting and continence where necessary, with the preparation and serving of meals as required, and with feeding the patient as directed.
· To contribute to the provision of advocacy for clients as well as the management of aggressive and abusive behaviour from patients.
· To promote patient/client communication and assist qualified staff in devising strategies where there are identified problems and difficulties with communication, but also to support clients when distressed and at times of loss.
· To assist in routine documentation relating to the recording of client/patient property, personal clothing, and items of value and arranging safe storage of these items.
· To assist with any other administrative and clerical support for the unit, including dealing with telephone inquiries as authorised by a healthcare professional, filing case notes and reports, and assisting in maintaining bed status reports.
