Affiliations

  • I am a keen sportsman! I have played golf all my life, switching between being a member of Morecambe and Bentham Golf Clubs. I am currently a member at Bentham and hold a handicap of 5.
  • I like to keep myself in shape but I now also have to as part of my role within the PGMOL, officiating in the EFL and National League. I have 2 x fitness and body fat tests throughout the season which have to be passed in order to keep receiving appointments.
  • I only started refereeing when I was 26, whilst I was still playing at a decent level (Penrith & Gretna). I quickly rose up the ladder with 7 x promotions in 10 seasons. I feel having played the game at a decent level helped me greatly with this. Progressing with refereeing has also helped me with different aspects of my professional life too, primarily leadership skills, communication and dealing with situations under pressure. Even though my refereeing is classed as a second job, games are at weekends or in the evenings . My primary full-time job would always take precedence. I can just close any dates/times with the PGMOL where I am working in my full-time role.

Accomplishments

A range of promotions up the FA's officiating ladder;

Level 7 to 6 (earliest) - as referee

Level 6 to 5- as referee

Level 5 to 4- as referee

Level 4 to 3- as referee

Level 3F to 3E - as assistant referee

Level 3E to Step 1- as assistant referee

Step 1 to National Group - as assistant referee

I also captained by county (North Yorkshire) at U16 level schools football.
