WHY I WANT TO STEP INTO MANAGEMENT

  • I want to move into the Controls & Test Manager role because I am ready to operate at a higher level of influence, accountability and strategic leadership. After more than twenty years in propulsion manufacturing and test engineering, my impact has grown beyond solving technical problems; it now extends to shaping systems, developing people and building long-term capability.
  • Throughout my career, I have naturally gravitated towards leadership: coaching engineers, defining governance, aligning cross-functional teams and stabilising complex test and controls environments. I enjoy creating clarity, setting direction and enabling others to perform at their best. The LL6 role allows me to formalise this leadership and use it to strengthen JLR’s propulsion manufacturing strategy.
  • I want to become a manager because I believe in building strong engineering teams, developing future leaders and creating systems that are reliable, scalable and data-driven. I want to take responsibility not only for technical outcomes, but also for people, culture and long-term capability. The Controls & Test Manager role gives me the platform to drive digitalisation, improve system robustness and ensure that test and controls environments support JLR’s transformation.
  • Most importantly, I want to step into management because I care deeply about the organisation, the people I work with and the future of propulsion manufacturing. I am ready to lead with clarity, discipline and purpose — and to deliver results that matter.

QUALITY, COMPLIANCE & IATF GOVERNANCE

  • Strong experience applying IATF 16949:2016 across propulsion manufacturing, ensuring process control, risk management, traceability and continuous improvement.
  • Supported and led internal and external audits, ensuring test processes, documentation and manufacturing systems met IATF, LQOS/MQOS and customer-specific requirements.
  • Developed and maintained control plans, reaction plans, process sheets, test standards, self-control documentation and visual aids, ensuring audit readiness.
  • Delivered robust MSA (Gauge R&R) studies for critical test equipment, improving measurement reliability and reducing variation.
  • Conducted process capability studies (Cp/Cpk, N30/N5) for Cold Test, Leak Test, NVH and in-process diagnostics.
  • Ensured compliance with safety standards, risk assessments, hazard spotting, near-miss reporting and disciplined incident management.
  • Provided governance for test system validation, ensuring PLC-integrated test cells met safety, reliability and compliance requirements.
  • Led cross-functional problem solving using PPS, 8D, DMAIC, Fishbone, DOE, delivering corrective actions aligned with IATF expectations.
