My time at Glacier Energy was all spent doing heat exchangers so I am very experienced in this field of work and have learned all the necessary skills to work on these units confidently and correctly. I like this field of work and would like to continue working with heat exchangers but feel iv gone as far as I can at glacier and think its time for a move to try a new company/ position and expand my knowledge and experience within the industry.
Started my career with Glacier Energy through the apprenticeship scheme and was put through college to achieve SVQ level 3 in mechanical engineering over a period of 4 years. During this time I spent my time learning all necessary skills to overhaul, refurbish and manufacture heat exchanger bundles. These skills were learnt in the Aberdeen workshop and doing offshore scopes in the North Sea and bundle manufactures in a workshop in Kazakhstan. After completing the apprenticeship I worked half in the workshop building new bundles and doing overhaul jobs offshore for inspection purposes, pulling bundles and plugging leaking tubes then rebuilding the units back into service. Iv done this for the past three years after completing the apprenticeship and worked my way up to becoming a supervisor for offshore scopes which involved running the scopes and completing the jobs to a high standard in the planned time scale, following the plan and doing it safely. Whilst in the workshop iv trained up the apprentices and passed on skills iv learned and shared all knowledge I could and made sure they followed all safety protocols and used correct techniques to complete the jobs to a high standard and to keep safe while doing so.
