Highly motivated with a can-do attitude, believing that presenting the right image and experience to the customer is of utmost importance. Always having a ready to function 'front of house' at the scheduled time; leaving concerns and differences to be addressed at the correct moment.
The health, safety & wellbeing of the public, staff and contractors is paramount, and at the centre of any facilities role. Being pro-active helps enormously, with clear written instructions and checks being vital. Good practice is non- negotiable in the field of compliance, and thorough procurement is essential when trying to obtain value for money from outside suppliers. Overseeing the delivery of projects to the value of £550,000, including a new Boiler Room and associated pipework, a complete upgrade of a Fire Detection System, and the repurposing of a classroom to a fully integrated DT kitchen, are some of the projects I have overseen Experienced in transitioning both hard and soft FM systems from outsourced to in-house, ensuring that best practices are continued whilst re-structuring, with an emphasis on long term cost saving.
From the outset, I concentrated on building an excellent working relationship with both the in-house and off-site Bouygues/Equans staff.
This ensured trust was gained on both sides, which saw an immediate uplift in performance which benefited the school in many areas.
I began implementing departmental changes, with clear directives being given to the Bouygues/Equans staff to concentrate on the smooth running and safety of the site and it's occupants.
It was clear that call outs and variation of works charges by the FM provider were not sustainable. Call-outs were cut to the absolute minimum, and improved interactions resulted in many jobs that would have previously been authorised for completion immediately being put into a RAG rating system to protect the FM budget.
Working with our Head of Operations and Finance, we have managed to make considerable improvements, concentrating on good project management, procurement, and always searching for best value across all sectors.
Health & Safety has occupied a good deal of my time, working with Judicium Education to make much needed improvements across all of the areas they provide support for . Our Fire, & Health & Safety audits and their subsequent actions have been challenging, but rewarding.
Providing good data and documentary evidence has been a constant when addressing issues where requested changes are not financially viable. Taking responsibility, whilst protecting the business has always been a priority.
Larger SCA bid projects were completed on time and in budget by working closely with all contractors, providing them with the flexibility they needed to help everyone achieve the positive outcomes we were all striving for. In the last two years we have completed the complete refurbishment of the toilet facilities across two floors of the site, as well the full installation of a new DT Kitchen in a new area of the school. Our Art rooms have also received new washing stations
I've enjoyed a good working relationship with our lettings company, Schools Plus. Providing support and understating where needed, whilst trying to keep the school's staff happy, has often required good diplomatic skills. Lettings, whilst challenging, provide a revenue stream that no organisation can overlook.
COLAT's decision to restructure it's FM arrangements was something that I was heavily involved in. Working with the MAT and Cohesion Consulting, our site was at the forefront of all of the changes. We were the first site to be transitioned on both cleaning and premises staff, and are now scheduled to be the first site to be fully integrated with our new M&E partner DMA, for PPM's, servicing & compliance checks. My good working relationship with Bouygues/Equans was pivotal in the re-structuring process of our site, as I had excellent access to their online systems, and the full support of their contracts manager and his staff, which ensured that DMA received all of the information they required to transition our site, quicker than any other.
I have also been involved in the sourcing and on-boarding of our new catering & waste service providers in the last few months.
