- I did voluntary work/experience for a Tv show programme on Freeview channel 7 and virgin media channel 159 called olleys midlands. It is a talk show that goes out on Wednesday's at 6:30 and replays throughout the week. I was there often and i work with Mike olley and Lorraine olley. Mike olley is a Birmingham Mail columnist and regular pundit for the BBC where he is often asked to give his views on the stories of the day and Lorraine olley is a former BBC producer and presenter and has also worked for the Birmingham Mail newspaper as a video journalist and also for Fusion Radio presenting and producing her own weekly talk show. I am in the studio when they do filming so i see all the background works that go into it such as the editing, the takes and the way presenters change their etiquette infront of the cameras. Here I developed many skills including communication skills and resilience. I continued my work experience with Olley’s Midlands, working alongside a variety of professionals. Furthermore i welcome the guests who are important people such as politicians, authors, Business owners, west midlands crime commissioner etc. I spend some time with them in the back talking about past experiences before its their turn to go and film for the Tv show. I also have been told to make an episode outline to do on a programme that they are doing about the titanic which i was told that i did a great job which helped develop my script writing skills. They let me practice with me once like it’s the real thing before they go out on Tv to do the actual programme by interviewing me to warm up for the real guest. To add on to that I also asked a guest a practice question once. Additionally they asked me to help film an episode of a titanic show, that will come out, at the NEC in Birmingham. I helped with the filming by recording with cameras and setting up the equipment with the head producer. I also had to make sure the lighting was perfect and I went round the NEC with a recording camera and lighting to film the show. It was a great day because i learnt a lot on behind the scenes of television filming. So I have some experience with production. On top of that I helped by being a runner and gathering things such as notebooks, bags and food etc. The most important thing i learnt was to just be yourself because thats how you feel the most optimistic.
