I joined the London Fire Brigade Cadet Scheme in 2022, this has taught me a vast amount, both professionally and about myself I have had to learn about fire safety and working safely as team in simulated high pressure situations I have learnt to remain calm in order to make informed decisions whilst prioritizing safety
During my time as a Fire Cadet I have had to devise solutions in a fast paced environment, both as a regular Cadet as well as an Office Cadet Every situation has its own unique solution, this often required me to think on my feet in order to come to the correct decision
I have developed my communication skills over time, I grew up being able to speak to people on an individual basis but sometimes struggled to speak in an open forum Being captain of my football team and now a top ranked Fire Cadet has helped me to gain the confidence to communicate, not only effectively, but in a way that is positive and with encouragement
I enjoy working as part of a team, whether I'm receiving instructions or giving them out Sometimes other peoples ideas, different from your own, can be more beneficial and also helps them feel more important in their role
During my tenure with the London Fore Brigade Cadets, I have applied for the next rank structure every term, I relish gaining more knowledge and skills and in turn passing this on to the less experienced cadets I have managed to be promoted on every occasions culminating this year in achieving the top rank of Station Officer
I am also the club captain for my football team, achieving this in the first season I was with the club I feel that I portray a positive attitude, motivation and drive, that hopefully rubs off on the other players
I always try and make use of the tools at my disposal, whether on a professional or personal level Everyone can wish for the best of everything and have unlimited resources but this is not reality I try to be as resourceful as possible and still achieve my aim with what I have at my disposal
In my Officer roles at cadets I have had to plan drills, training packages and scenarios I have been tasked by my peers to come up with new and exciting ideas, which I have always tried to do This can be a very fluid situation sometimes as you can plan a drill or scenario based on the number of cadets in attendance, if this suddenly changes I have to think on my feet and make changes but with the aim of still achieving the goal of the scenario or task
