Summary

I am committed to ensuring the best possible student experience, and I am constantly looking for ways to refresh and develop new programmes, to enhance the learning experience and attract new students. I believe in exploring innovative ways of teaching engineering and sharing best practices across departments to improve teaching methods and am currently using technology enhanced learning across my teaching and preparation and this is an area that I am very passionate about. I am eager to explore using Artificial Intelligence, to create online platforms for staff and students to collaborate and share best practices. I am dedicated to contributing to college-wide initiatives and fostering a culture of collaboration and support as part of my current role.

I have a successful track record of taking on various roles within the Gower college, demonstrating my strong organisational skills and ability to achieve excellent results. I am highly motivated tenacious, resilient and proficient in problem-solving, and thrive in pressurised environments. I value mutual respect in my team and am a warm and caring leader with excellent listening skills, who encourages an open and honest working environment, built on trust and respect. I am committed to providing necessary support to staff members, so they can fully contribute to the department and develop their skills. I believe in building a strong and respectful culture within my team.

I am passionate about ensuring the best possible student experience and constantly seeking ways to improve and innovate in order to attract new students. I thrive on exploring innovative ways of teaching engineering and sharing best practices with my colleagues.

My twenty five years of pastoral experience can be beneficial in supporting engineering students and I am always willing to go the extra mile to assist them with their UCAS applications or any other concerns they may have. I have a strong background in working with employers to promote the achievements of apprentices and strengthen relationships within the community. I am skilled in effective communication with parents, students, and external agencies, and always prioritise clear and timely communication.

In my current role as a Curriculum Leader, I have successfully taken on various responsibilities outlined in my Curriculum Vitae, and have a history of successfully fulfilling different roles within the college. I am highly motivated, organized, and proficient in problem-solving.

As part of my lecturer role, I have taught on many course and been involved with many exam boards. This includes teaching Essential Skills Wales, Welsh Bacc, English Language GCSE, Engineering Project, Access to Engineering - Extended Essay and HND Management, Sustainability and Innovation. Teaching this wide range of subject areas, has enable me to use a variety of teaching methods and assessment methods, which has helped me to develop into a confident and experienced lecturer.

Overall, I am a dedicated and passionate individual who is committed to the success of all that I am involved in. I have so much to offer, and know that I would bring my passion, dedication and years of experience to the role of Head of Teaching, Learning and Education to Coleg Sirgar.

· Lead, motivate and inspire the staff team holding regular curriculum/subject area meetings.

· Work with lecturing staff to plan the design and delivery of the full course offer / subject and part time courses, ensuring the offer is fit for purpose and responds to college and national priorities e.g. essential skills policy, employability, ESDGC, equality and diversity, Welsh language.

· Keep up to date with awarding organisation / examination board developments and disseminate to staff to ensure all external requirements are met.

· Co-ordinate the teams work with marketing, school liaison, admissions and learner services to ensure effective marketing, learner recruitment and selection activities.

· Work with the staff team to ensure good quality schemes of work and up to date course files are in place to cover all aspects of delivery.

  • Developing and monitoring action plans for improvement
  • Encouraging participation in learner voice activities and providing feedback to learners

· Identify resource needs and ensure the efficient use of resource at curriculum team level.
