My ambition is to become a football coach. I believe that I possess the skills, attributes and drive to be successful in this challenging industry. My coaching qualifications include the SFA 1.1 Introduction to Coaching and 1.2 Youth/Adult Coaching certificates. From the age of fifteen I have been a coach at my local football team, Glasgow Athletic. I was assistant coach for under 11’s team followed by an offer to act as head coach of the under 6’s team. I developed many new skills such as organisation, planning and team work as well the importance of delivering fun and engaging sessions. Thereafter, I was given an opportunity to coach at a new club; UTD sports. I was responsible for delivering training sessions and leading the team in tournaments. I also planned summer programmes delivering a wide range of sports activities. Currently, I am the 2014’s Head Coach at Glasgow Athletic where I am responsible for ensuring coaching sessions are to a high standard and progressing the team within their personal and team goals. In addition, I am completing a two-year apprenticeship with Glasgow City Council Active Schools, PEPASS team. This has given me a great insight to coaching through planning and delivering sports sessions to children across schools in Glasgow including pre-school, primary, secondary and additional support needs schools. This involves delivering PE lessons in local schools as well as lunch and after school clubs. During my apprenticeship I have refined my sports coaching skills alongside my determination, drive and skills. As part of a team, I have worked towards the goal of creating significant change in schools through sport with the aim of having more pupils, more active, more often; creating an environment which is accepting, encouraging and supportive to all regardless of their personal abilities.
My job is to deliver and support activity sessions during the school day and at extra-curricular lunchtime and after school clubs. Also a part of my job is to help at events such as Glasgow including, City of Dance, Gymfest, Glasgow Floor and Vault Championships, Athletics Super 7s, Secondary Giant Heptathlon and the Glasgow Great Scottish Schools Run.
We also have to run our sessions based off of the schools curriculum guide where we have to insure we are meeting the pupils needs.
Delivered lessons with enthusiasm and positivity to inspire students to consistently achieve their goals.
Planned and led training sessions to motivate players and improve gameplay.
