20+ years in customer service managements roles has given me many skills that I apply to my nursing practice. When qualified my aim is to obtain a position in acute medicine setting within NUH trust, with a view to progress into a band 6 supervisory role and work towards become a part of the educational team that works towards providing best practice care for patients and improve services for all users and there family's.
I have completed two separate 6 week placements within the NUH trust so far as a student my 1st placement was on Harvey 1- elective orthopaedics ward at city hospital this placement involved a high amount of personal care and support with mobility as patients were post operative. All patients observations were conducted frequently according to the postoperative monitoring protocol. I also had experience with wound care and pain management as well as all other aspects of nursing care within the wards daily routine.
My 2nd placement was within Queens medical Centre in the acute medical assessment ward B3 this placement had a fast turn around of admissions and discharges. Patients on this ward had a diverse selection of medical conditions and different levels of care were needed. on this placement I assisted with observations and documentation of patients vital signs , assisted with personal hygiene needs and supported different levels of mobility and independence. I was involved in completing all aspects of documentation such as admission process, falls charts, Braden scoring, nutrition and fluid input and output, updating written notes and completing nerve centre check on time and accurately.
