Work history

Driver and Transport Assistant, Production

Aubrey Allen
Coventry, West Midlands
03.2004 - 05.2025

Started as a driver, quickly moving to relief driver - learning and covering all the routes.

My record keeping duties included delivery times, mileage, van temperature and crate records.

Keeping the vehicle cleaned and the back of the vehicle hygienic.

Performed daily and weekly basic maintenance tasks on the vehicle - changing bulbs, checking tyre pressures and tread depths. Checking and refilling fluids.

Carried out deliveries to customers in a courteous and friendly manner,

following established delivery procedures.

As a relief driver I covered all the routes and set up new routes, this included going out to liaise with customers to arrange new delivery instructions for which I created sheets including photos for seamless delivery on our own vans.

I trained any new drivers up on their routes, showing them all their calls, introducing them to the customers, van cleaning and maintenance and how to fill out the paperwork.

As a Transport Assistant, I covered the Transport Office with or without the Transport Manager there.

Duties included, communicating with the sales office by phone and email for any customer queries.

Communicating with drivers concerning their deliveries with missing or extra products on their vans.

In the case of a vehicle breakdown liaise with the driver to organise the van to be fixed at the roadside or the vehicle to be taken to the nearest place available for repair. If there are any deliveries left on the vehicle then I would also leais with the sales team to let them know the nature of the breakdown and the revised estimated delivery time.

On Saturdays I answered the sales phone and talked to customers directly, answering their queries about deliveries. Any information that needed to be passed to sales would be emailed to them at the end of the shift.

As the drivers returned to the unit it was my duty to go into the yard to check the vans, count of the crates being returned and check returns have been collected and put into the appropriate place.

In the run up to the 2012 Olympics in London, I attended a one day course on the delivery times and road closures during the Olympics.

I then contacted all the customers in London to arrange the amended deliveries, this included alternative delivery points and arranging for access into the customers while there was no one on site.

I arranged same day emergency deliveries to customers using our own vans or by our courier liaising with sales to let them know the estimated delivery time.

I liaised with the 3 overnight courier companies we used to find out ETA's and arrange delivery information for new customers.

I have done extra work for the company, taking picnics to concerts all over the Midlands and South.

In production, I have worked in the cheese room, accepting and putting away deliveries maintaining strict stock rotation procedures while building a good product knowledge. I also maintained the cleanliness of the cheese stock room and did daily date audits of the cheese removing any short dated product ensuring the the customers received a high quality product.

I have also worked on the packing section, packing the product ready to go into the fridges.

Milkman

Employed and Self Employed
Coventry , West Midlands
06.2002 - 03.2004

Started as working for an established milkman before taking on a

Co-Op franchise.

Built and maintaned very good relationships with customers.

Ensured that deliveries were always on time whatever the weather.

Used stock control and rotation to ensure customers recieved premium products.

Billed and collected money weekly ensuring customers paid on time keeping customer debts low.

Kept the vehicle clean and hygenic.

Ensured that all marketing material got to every customer. This ensured I surpassed sales targets.

Got to know each customer so I could suggest products for extra sales.

Warehouse operative

Pearson Education
Lutterworth, Leicestershire
07.1996 - 01.2002

During my time there I worked in picking, packing, goods in, dispatch, stock control and returns departments.

In picking I worked as part of a large team picking books and putting them onto totes on a conveyer system. This included checking that it is the correct product by checking the ISBN and letting the supervisors know if the wrong product were in the locations. Each product had to be checked to make sure it was not damaged.

In packing, I had to ensure that products were packed in a way that could not be damaged in transit. I worked on single book, multiple title and bulk packing sections.

In despatch I would load trailers efficently to make sure that no products got damaged.

In Stock Control I helped the team audit products around the warehouse in multiple locations.

In goods In, I worked as part of a team that checked off every delivery, checking to ensure no damaged stock was accepted, booking in, and puting away deliveries.

In the returns department, we would accept returns from customers, book them in and then put good stock onto the shelf or sent damaged stock to be recycled.

Security Guard

Downtown Detectives

I kept accurate logs of patrols and events during my shift.

During my time at the hospital I worked on the reception desk evenings and weekends. Assisting the staff with security when new patients came in. Locking and unlocking the doors each day and letting doctors into the unit when needed. I also had access to the computer system so I could add or remove staff from the access system and make them new access cards.
