When I left school and sixth form in 2002/2003, I was given the opportunity to study at St. Helens college as part of a nursing cadet course for a year which I loved and found my passion in wanting to help people.
After completing my course I then got my first job as a healthcare assistant at Whiston Hospital in the discharge lounge, which although I really enjoyed, it was not something I wanted to continue on with as I felt I was not gaining much experience there.
I decided to leave the discharge lounge and take a break from nursing for a short while and I started a position as a customer adviser at United Utilities.
I really enjoyed this job as I gained a lot of experience with communication skills, computer skills and dealing with customers in a challenging way.
Whilst working as a customer adviser I applied for jobs within the hospital as I felt that was where I wanted to continue.
I was then offered a job on a busy burns and plastics trauma ward which I loved. I dealt with different challenges everyday and adapted well with all situations under high pressure.
Whilst working on burns and plastics I fell pregnant with my first child. When i returned back off maternity leave I worked full time for 3 months before making the difficult decision to leave and become a full time mum.
I was then a full time for both my children and was out of work until July 2023 which is my current role as support worker.
Before becoming a support worker i enrolled back into college to gain new knowledge and re gain my confidence back.
