  • Manage recovery of patients post-operatively, whether they've had sedation, a general or spinal anaesthetic. I take anaesthetic and ODP handovers and ensuring airway-maintenance at all times, always keeping patient safety the top priority
  • Complete admission documentation, theatre checklists and necessary post-op assessments for a variety of procedures
  • Perform neurological, neurosurgical and neurovascular observations in a timely manner for a number of different directorates, comprising of neurology, orthopaedic, ENT, plastics, urology, breast and obstetrics & gynaecological surgeries
  • Post-op pain and nausea management, measuring and recording of observations, input and output charts and management of drains and devices
  • Monitor patient wellbeing, accurately recognising deterioration and delivering BLS and ALS during an anaesthetic emergency
  • Communicate and collaborate with theatres, including anaesthetist, surgeon, speciality registrar or on-call anaesthetist
  • Request medical reviews for patients when concerned or unsure about a patient's condition and escalating deteriorating patients effectively
  • Keep patients involved when making decisions about their care when necessary, with patients' best interests in mind
  • Update relatives where possible, with prior permission of the patient
  • Maintain accurate records to facilitate smooth, effective delivery of care
  • Administer IV, oral, subcutaneous and topical medications to manage patient symptoms
  • Discharge patients to wards, ITU and HDU, delivering comprehensive handovers, disclosing required information only to relevant MDT members taking over their care
