Clare Hanna

Work in various schools across Northern Ireland. Arrange band work shops and performances for a band of children called ‘Electric Reels’ who perform in community clubs, shopping centres, care homes and venues such Belfast City hall for charities. Volunteer at the Lurgan Comhaltas group leading music sessions for young children and teenagers.

• Observing pupils, meeting parents and teachers, offering advice and providing written reports for both the parents and the school.

• Teaching KS3 music and leading the school choir for performances. Promoting music throughout the school, report writing and liaising with staff and parents.

• Teaching music from Nursery to KS3, leading the school choir for Church ceremonies and celebrations such as Harvest, Remembrance, Black history month, Christmas Carol services, Spring concerts and Speech days.

• Teaching KS1 and KS2 music, leading the school choir and recorder group and preparing them for school assemblies.
• Leading weekly singing assemblies and special themed assemblies such as St. George’s Day, St Patrick’s Day and Black history month.
• In 2010 the Music Department which I led won the Saint Patrick’s Day London Government competition winning the first prize of £5000 beating over a hundred schools in the London area.

• Managing peripatetic teachers, teaching KS3, GCSE, form tutor and leading the school choir and ensembles for School concerts and performances.
• In 2006 I worked with a group of teenagers for a song writing competition for the London Criminal Justice System in which they had to write a song about how families are affected by knife crime. They won the competition out of fifty six schools that entered and had the opportunity to record the rap in a professional studio. This was the first ever song to be released online by the Government.

• Teaching KS3, GCSE, A level, leading the school choir and acting form tutor.

• St. Louis Grammar school Kilkeel and St. Patrick’s Boys Grammar school Armagh, covering maternity leave teaching KS3, GCSE and A level music, leading the school choir and orchestra and also form tutor.
